        from the chat:

        Q: Chuck from Wichita asks:
What do you think of Wichita State's very young roster, and will they be able to win the Valley and make the tournament yet again?
        A:

Aaron Fitt: That's a very young team. I've got Missouri State as the preseason Missouri Valley Conference favorite, but the Shockers might be the No. 2 team in that league if they can mature quickly. I am very high on their freshman class.

I wonder if Mr. Fitt knows of Johnny Coy? :D

If not, he might change his mind.

Every time WSU has a young team and another valley team looks decent, the Shox are picked second. Lets just say, my money's on the Shox, young team or not.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I dunno, we kinda hadda rough stretch in the early to mid-2000's when we were young and MSU and Evansville claimed the top spot over us. I just wanna know where our bats are gonna come from. I hope to hell we mature more quickly than ever, but for now, I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

The new kids this year have much more plate potential than we have had for quite some time in a recruiting class. I also hope they will mature and figure it out quickly. Our pitching also took a big hit but the new kids again are as deep and more talented than I think we have seen in some time as well. I think they will mature much quicker and really be the steady force this year.

Let the boys decide it on the field instead of a writer sitting at a PC. 8)

I think all the pre-season ranking are just for the fans to have fun discussing in this dead period before the season starts. :good:

Baseball America proves that it's never too early to start thinking ahead, as the experts shell out their projections for this season's 64-team NCAA tournament field.

Says we will miss the tourney.

Until proven otherwise, I'll stick with Gene, Brent and the boys.

I am the same way. I just think it is funny that they have us ranked in the top 40 or so but won't make the tournament.
