The whole purpose for my "stone throwing" comment was....I'm not sure I want to know more than I already do. No accusations or moral equivalents here were intended. As far as I know, the apparent lapses in judgement by both men will be and/or have been costly. I wish them both well in dealing with the ramifications of their actions. I have done some things in my past that I'm not proud of. I'm not perfect...just forgiven!

Garrido suspended for DUI

Update
Texas (not the NCAA, which has no jurisdiction in such matters) has decided to suspend Garrido for four games -- with pay, I believe, which is a bit wimpy for my taste, but otherwise probably not unreasonable. Now, if he does it again, that's a different story. But apparently he was just a few blocks from home when he was stopped, so maybe in the future he'll learn to walk to dinner and avoid the problem.
I really don't quite understand the spleen on here toward Garrido, even from those who think it's domehow clever to use "soggy burrito" as a play on his name. His record is remarkable, and even in southern California, Fullerton didn't have much going for it when he first arrived and manufactured a national power.
Yes, he's ahead of our guy in victories. But not for long, assuming Gene doesn't slalom headfirst into a tree someday, or get run over by a jet ski; Augie is 70 and won't last forever. And yes, he can be accused of overextending pitchers (although he's certainly not a serial abuser like Wayne Graham at Rice). And yes, Texas won't play WSU home and home. But the scheduling thing isn't Garrido, who did come to Wichita when he was at Fullerton; it's Texas and their fat cat former Kansan AD DeLoss Dodds.
If anything, I personally would like to see WSU put as much of an obvious emphasis on the mental side of the game as Garrido does -- or, for that matter, as WSU's all-time greatest coach in any sport, my old buddy Gordon Vadakin, does with his bowlers. Gene and Brent don't need to turn into Zenmasters; some of that stuff is a bit much even from a California guy like Garrido. But the more WSU's coaches can help the smart guys on whom they've built their baseball program for years to harness their brainpower and mental capabilities, the better.

Nice misrepresentation of my wisecrack about Garrido by carefully quoting out of context, SB -- that even took extra effort on your part. Maybe somebody should offer you a one-way bus ticket to Houston or someplace. I'd certainly chip in, provided you didn't take your computer.
