Mark on sebaseball.com wrote an article where he picked teams he'd like to see play each other in the regular season, such as North Carolina and South Carolina.

For the Hogs he picked Oklahoma State which is kind of "meh" to me. My top 3 teams I'd like to see the Hogs play a weekend series against is 1. Texas 2. Wichita State and 3. Rice.

Who would be at the top of your wish lists to see home/home weekends against?

I could say Arkansas but they won't play a one game home and home anymore.

I believe it lasted this long due to the relationship with Stephenson and previous Arkansas coach Norm DeBriyn. There is no love lost between Gene Stephenson and Van Horn.

too far for arkansas or too far for wichita st? using google maps wichita to lincoln is 4 hrs 39 min and wichita to fayetteville is 4 hrs 41 min. or were you shooting for it being too far to maybe get a yearly series between the teams?

I don't think 5 hours on a bus for 1 game is a trip we want to take. Our singles this year are against Missouri State (1/1), Oral Roberts (1/1), and Oklahoma (1 game here).

I really don't think it's because of animosity between DVH and Gene. I know there were words after the 04 regional but we've played since then.

It hadn't been a problem in the past with the teams trading bus trips. I'm sure WSU would love to have a 3 game series against Arkanas. I would trade one of those for a North Dakota State series any day.

Only games that was played was what was on contract before Van Horn took over. I believe I have heard Kemnitz on Sports Daily basically say it was Arkansas who did not want to renew the series.

We never seem to play anybody from the ACC, even in the post-season. I'd love to play Florida State, North Carolina, Clemson, Miami, etc.

If you are a big school in a big conference it makes alot more sense to play the shox in a 3 game series than it does home and home, Who wants to face Pelphrey or whoever the number 1 is at the time, twice as opposed to 123 against 123 on a weekend.

William- Most likely in a one game mid-week series against WSU they would be facing our #4 or #5 guy.

Quite often over the years it has been a freshman.

Their chances of facing our number 1 pitcher are much better during a 3 game weekend series than a one game mid-week game.

Over the years, WSU just has not used their #1 guys (except on very rare ocassions) for a mid-week game no matter who the opponent is. Gene and Brent just don't operate that way. :wsu_posters: :wsu_posters:
