  • 2009 Schedule

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita State baseball team will face seven 2008 NCAA postseason teams and five teams ranked in the final 2008 polls in 2009, head coach Gene Stephenson announced Oct. 27.

Big tests for a young team.

Thanks for the heads-up and link.

ORU x 4? We better start fixing the jinx with ORU if we're going to start playing them 4 times per regular season.

Looks like standard spec compared to the last few years, otherwise. Wish we could do a home and home setup with Missouri and Arkansas, and add an additional game each year with Nebraska and Okie State.

Oh well, you can hope in one hand and....

Long Beach and Pepperdine in March? - LMAO! Yeah right, like they'll get those games in. Those games will either be rained out, snowed out or too cold to play.

Uhhhhh, that ended in 2007 when WSU beat ORU 11-4 in the NCAA regional. WSU even beat them in 2008.

You don't get out much to see WSU play baseball do you. In the last two years in games either in Wichita or north of Wichita.

In 2006, WSU played 16 of 16 in March

In 2007, WSU played 18 of 19 in March

            Not quite...

Over the past five seasons we've garnered a 3-7 record against ORU, and last season we split with them- getting taken behind the woodshed in one meeting 0-12 (I'm surprised you don't remember that one), and barely holding on to win the second 10-8 after blowing a 7 run cushion late in the game.

The jinx is most definitely still alive.

Wow, this is a very good schedule for '09.

Some relativly easy games early for a young team vs. NDSU, UAPB, BYU. A tough challenge early at TCU. 8 games vs. Big 12 with all coming in to The Eck (OU, OSU, NU, KU, KSU), giving the youngsters a chance to pull-off a couple upsets.

Top 50 RPI teams galore in NU (1), OSU (1), OU (2), LBSU (3), Pepperdine (3), ORU (4), TCU (3), KSU (2) with each of those coming to Wichita except TCU.

              Very nice.

I am sorry to see that the long running series with Arkansas is apparrently over. But renewal with OU and OSU sorta make up for that, I guess.

              --'85.

I say that the ORU jinx officially ended when we beat them in the '07 regional. Give me June results over March and April ones any day.

Exactly. In fact with the ending of that jinx also ended the jinx in also not getting to the Supers. Now if they can breakout of the rut of not getting to a CWS.
