  • Conor Gillaspie Called Up

Jim Kobbe reported on Channel 3 Sports that Conor Gillaspie was called up to the Giants. He said that's the first time a Shocker has been called up in the same year as he was drafted. I'll see if I can find a link.

wow, the giants are pretty desperate. David Price is still with the Rays AAA team and he's the #1 pick last year

Talked to a friend that knows Gillespie, said he wouldn't sign with the Giants unless they agreed to call him up in September. This happened around NBC time. We'll see if he actually plays

The official website of the San Francisco Giants with the most up-to-date information on scores, schedule, stats, tickets, and team news.

Not a mention from SF's front office about it being in the contract. But I suspect it would embarassing to admit they agreed to something like that.

Yea I have a Baseball player in one of my classes and he said its in his contract, that why he ended signing for a little bit less than what his original offer was.

Nothing (yet) in this article about it being in his contract.

no news source is going to be stupid enough to report that the only way Conor would signed is if he was guaranteed a callup. That is going to stay top secret, except for Gillespies friends and family. Good to see him in the dugout tonight

It was well reported that Andrew Miller signed based on the fact that he was going to be called up in September.

So if its in there and made public im sure somebody would report it.

What is the reason to put something like this in your contract? You would think a player would want to go out and earn this promotion, It seems that other players , the organization and its fans would look down on this type of negotiating.

                              yup

i'm sure it must have been the .268 batting average with the
.324 slugging pct and zero HR's at the lowest (short-season A) level
                              that prompted this promotion.

meanwhile, the team that he departed from lost in the
championship game of the league playoffs.

                              i'm just sayin'.......
