I like your attitude.
I wonder how long before betting pools are formed due to the claims made for this new bat?
Will this bat be broken?
Which hitter can break this bat?
On what pitch will it be broken?
Which pitcher will be on the mound if it's broken?
How long will it take to break one of these new bats?
And on and on...
Actually, that might be fun to debate.

I had a thought the other day while mulling over the research being done out on campus. It has been wel-publicized over the past few weeks that composite testing is going on which may lead to commercial uses (i.e. artificial hips, joints, etc.).
Why couldn't someone apply some of this research to the potential development of a composite bat?
I would set forth the following criteria:
1. Weight would have to be similar to bats in use today (guessing 30 oz., +/- ??),
2. Couldn't change the dimensions of the game (duh!),
3. Would not break down or deteriorate upon contact with legal substances (pine tar, etc.), and
4. Shelf life of 2-3 years.
Better get busy and apply for some funds to study this, looks like that guy in NJ has gotten off to a good start.
