All of Shea chanting " PEL-FREY... PEL-FREY" as he finishes the 9th.
Mike is now 11-2 in his last 17 starts. John Maine goes on DL, so Mike's role down the stretch becomes even more important.
I found this stat amazing: Mike has back to back complete game victories and this is the first time a Met pitcher has done that in 13 years.

Should we be concerned that Pelfrey is being used too much. He's still just 24 years old and throws a lot of fastballs. I'm just worried he'll be a Mark Prior or Kerry Wood. Prior to tonight he's pitched 154 innings. I know, a little bit of a worry wort, but I'm just looking out for a fellow Shocker.

The Mets pitching staff has squandered a 7-0 lead and are in extra innings at Philadelphia. They have used 7 pitchers.
Pelfrey's innings and pitch counts have been discussed in the press. However they are in a pennant race and will continue to use Mike as needed.

I live in Houston and like to listen to the sports radio to and from work in the car. Yesterday after Pelfrey's big win it was all they could talk about. Cecil Cooper said Pelphrey was the best pitcher they'd faced all year and has the best stuff of anyone they've seen. There was no complaining about the loss, only rave reviews for the young pitcher.

KC,
Mike is being lauded as an "Angel in the outfield," on television now. Poor guy, he looked like he didn't know what to do when the kid started crying and clutching at him. He seemed to be looking around for help, but as we now know, the boy's parents are claiming they didn't even know he was at the game."She is only HALF a mother who does not see HER child in EVERY child." - Anonymous
