  • Commitments for the 2010 season

    RHP Tobin Mateychick

    LHP Aaron Labrie

    Middle Infielder Nate Goro

    Middle Infielder Matt Vinson

Freshman class of 2009-2010 taking shape. How big of a class will it be? Just verbal commitments now.

I heard Matt Vinson has decided to decommit from Wichita State and commit to Arkansas.

Perhaps this is what your hearing?

If its true, I have to say that stinks. I really think he could have made a great OF with Micah Green. Sounds like hes athletic enough to play a mean SS also and according to the link WSU wanted him there.

Hmmm....I thought once a kid gave a verbal it was pretty much understood hands off for other coaches and programs.

I know it's not a rule but that's one of two reasons kids give verbals.

I certainly hope our coaches play by that rule. Arkansas sure doesn't.

It is the $EC. No rules. Biggest cheaters in college athletics. It shouldn't surprise anyone that the WSU coaches would do the work, find a kid with talent, offer him and then watch other coaches swoop in. Van Horn couldn't look bad, and Vinson becoming a stud at WSU would make him look bad.

After reading that I didn't get the impression that he was actually going to commit to Arkansas.

A verbal is non-binding and doesn't forbid other teams from continuing to pursue them. That's why sometimes they're labled as a soft verbal.

WSU’s latest baseball commitment is Preston Springer, a 1b-3b from Denton (Texas) and Odessa (Texas) Junior College.
