      And then there were four...

...teams with Shockers left in the tourney, that is.
Both the Park City Rangers and the Wichita Sluggers finished in a tie for 17th place.

Shockers still in the tounament -

Clint Maune, Kevin Hall - Vienna Senators
Ryan Engrav - Santa Barbara Foresters
Cody Lassley, Clinton McKeever - Lake Havasu Heat
Brett Bascue - Southern California Fire (an interesting tidbit: Tyler Fleming is listed as a coach).

I was mistaken. My sons team was actually there for the Hays- San Diego game. We had read the schedule wrong.
        Hays looked really good.
But coincidentally San Diego didnt look so good.

If anyone is like me and is awake at this crazy hour, the game between the Havasu Heat and the Maxim Yankees is really exciting (sadly, I am forced to keep track via online scoring), but McKeever and Lassley have been tearing it up so far. Through 5 innings, both have had one double; plus, Clint had a single and Cody a triple to help their team lead 11-2. I'm going back to watch the rest of the game, but I think we should all feel at least a little encouraged heading into this next year. :good:

          Edit: Havasu run-rules in 7...12-2.

            And then there were two...

...teams with Shockers left in the tourney, that is.

Shockers still in the tounament -

Ryan Engrav - Santa Barbara Foresters (only unbeaten team left at 5-0)
Cody Lassley, Clinton McKeever - Lake Havasu Heat

Hmmm, this is a tough one. Do I go with the only unbeaten team, that includes one Shocker, or do I root for the team with two Shockers who fought their way back through the loser's bracket, knowing that they won it all last year?
Just who is the underdog in this situation? I'm jumping the gun here, because it may not come down to these two teams. I'll get back to you....

                roadshocker,

Thank you... I guess. ;-) I should have researched further and I would have seen this coming.
I mean, it's not like Cody and Clint were on that winning team last year but, then again, Ryan wasn't in the mix either, right? Arrgh!!! :(

Here's hoping a team with any Shocker on the roster makes it all the way. How's that?

a quick look at the stats leaders of the nbc website has a definite kansas flavor on the leaderboard. jordan cooper is tied for the tourney lead in strikeouts with 20 and looks ready to be an impact pitcher this year. wichitan cameron welch is in the top 3 in hitting, top 2 in slugging, and first in on base percentage. medicine lodge's chris kersten is leading in rbi's, doubles, and is second in total bases. wichitan tim rotola and tanner stevenson are also very visible with their performances.

Regarding final stats, I noticed McKeever (Havasu Heat) is listed in several categories, including tied for second in most hits with 12. Plus his put out percentage was very good in fielding 58 out of 60, I think.

The Heat were eliminated last night by the Santa Barbara Foresters, so it looks like only one Shocker remains in the tourney and that's Ryan Engrav.
                          Go, Ryan!!! :good:

Red Sox blog now lists both Flynn (18th round) and Cooper (17th round) as "Not expected to sign"

As many prospect-watchers know, the deadline for the Red Sox and all other MLB teams to sign their 2008 draft picks is Friday, August 15, at...
