  • Fleming out for the year

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Bummer I think we will say some time next spring if we only had Tyler. Take care and get well T. F.
First a Baseball fan then a Volleyball fan and then I guess I follow the basketball team.

Sorry to hear about Tyler and I hope for a speedy and full recovery.
However, I'm not ready to abandon ship just yet. These younger guys are just going to have to step it up. Sometimes trial by fire is more than enough motivation. At least they'll all be in the same boat, more or less.

We sure seem to have had a rash of injured pitchers the last few years.

Ah, the Dunce strikes again. An acute observation, but it's called baseball. Pitching is an unnatural motion that puts a lot of strain on one's arm, and pitchers get hurt as a result. If you were a fan of pretty much any other team -- and please free to start anytime, by the way -- you could say the same thing.

iT ACTUALLY SEEMS THAT THE PITCHERS SEEM TO BE GETTING INJURED ON THEIR SUMMER ABLL TEAMS. NOT FOR WSU

I prefer Willie, I'm not injured and am fresh out of eligibility.

It may be the first time in a long time we don't have a Tyler playing on Tyler field.

                      Tyler

What started all this discussion had to do with Tyler Fleming. His arm problems started while at WSU this spring, not in summer ball according to what Kemnitz says in the article.

I knew about the injury two weeks ago.

I was talking to the So Cal Fire owner (who I am a good friend of since his team's first appearance in the NBC in 2004) after they made it to the winner's bracket final of the San Diego Stars tournament (eventually winning it) over the July 4th weekend, congratulating them and telling him when I'd see the team (I've only seen them at Havasu this past Tuesday). He told me in the first two minutes of the conversation that Fleming went in for an MRI and could miss up to a year. The injury occurred while at WSU back in April (remember when he was shut down for a week or so). Fleming told the owner he was hurt before coming to California, but withheld the information so he could keep playing and play summer ball in California.

I got the specific news on Tuesday of the torn labrum, but I've been at work 60+ hours this week (plus the seven hours of driving to Havasu to watch 3.5 hours of baseball), so I forgot to put it up. I wasn't going to post anything until either the word came out over the media or I got more details on his prognosis.

The Fire doesn't traditionally overuse pitchers, and they care about their players arms. I'm not saying that as a fan of them, but watching their tendencies in the NBC and whenever I've seen them in the last three summers. The injury happened as a result of the normal pitching motion, not overuse.

Thats the way it is with a lot of arm injuries, the player takes anti-inflamatories, some electronic stim, feels a little better and tries to throw, but usually you have an outing like Fleming at osu that lets you know something is definately not right, a pitcher can sometimes even throw with very little pain but totally lose command of his pitches due to these type injuries.

WSU obviously didn't have a clue tyler was hurt and must not have gotten him checked out, because if they had he would have never pitched in the osu game.

and you have to rely on the pitcher telling you what is going on. what you see might not be what is really happening. a lot of people are competitive enough that they want on the field regardless of being injured. i know i was that way.
