  • Sluggers v. Rangers

Got out to see the Wichita Sluggers play a double-header against the Park City Rangers last night.

Two good games, which the Sluggers swept 3-2 and 2-1.

In the first game, the sluggers led 3-0 going into the 7th (last inning) when their pitcher tired and gave up two quick runs.

With two on and none out, they turned to ancient reliever Steve Lienhard, a coach on the team. It must've been the first time he'd pitched for them this year, because it caused quite a buzz in the stands.

He labored a bit, but struck out two and got the save.

In the second game, Brent was there to watch Jordan Cooper pitch. Jordan gave up a run on 2 hits in the first, but only gave up four more hits the rest of the way. There was also a Boston Red Sox scout in the stands (They drafted him in the 17th round). Kemnitz sat with him for most of the game before working down the third base line to get a different perspective on Jordan's delivery.

Tyler Grimes tripled deep in the right-centerfield gap with two outs in the sixth to plate the Sluggers' first run, then scored the winning run on a passed ball. It was a tough luck loss for the Rangers starter, who took a perfect game into the 5th and only gave up Grimes' blast and an infield single in 6 2/3.
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'
