The Cape League is the premier summer league and can be tough for college hitters...
...the parks are good size
...the pitchers are very good
...the bats are wooden.
FSU's Posey was starting catcher last year for the Cape All Star game..while hitting .254
Usually, it is the kids with pro prospects that go play in the Cape.
Very few FSU guys play up there...most play in the Florida Summer League. Set up like the cape...but at a much lower level of talent (IMHO)
Yeah, we know about the cape...
A few more tips for my landlocked buddies it is very crowded on the weekends with long waits on the bridges...and watch out for the crazies coming 'round the rotaries coming off the bridge...might I suggest the Chart Room in Falmouth for seafood...oh and stay away from the Kennedy compound.
:sarcasm:
Not sure why some of our posters feel the need to display such a chip on the shoulder attitude toward billybud, who has been a civil and worthwhile contributor here; but to your credit, billy, you seem to have a thicker skin than our obnoxious minority, so way to hang in.
And thanks for the info about Posey. For him to have hit .254 last summer may put Cape stats in perspective a bit -- not that it will quiet our naysayers who anticipate doom next year because some Shocks are off to poor starts there.
Some of us Florida guys take summer vacations in New England (the infamous "summer folks")....I just didn't realize how many of you Kansas guys had made some of the Cape games.
We untrailer the Harley, leave the truck at a cousins, and tool around for a couple of weeks between the Cape and Bar Harbor.
Last year was a blast...but this year, we left the trailer and only rode as far as Virginia. With gas at $4.00 plus, the 48 mpg on the Hwy on my Streetglide beat the heck out of the 13 mpg that my Z71 gets hauling the trailer.

Don't be sorry Billy, these jokers watch that Summer Catch movie one time and now they are cape cod baseball experts. No need to sweat it 99.9% of these guys have never been to a cape game.
Ryan Jones hit his 4th home run yesterday, which ranks tied for second in the Cape.
This is a little late, but Dusty and Ryan had quite the matchup about a week ago. Dusty's Bourne Braves beat Ryan's Falmouth Commodores 4-2 in a 15-inning affair on June 30th. Ryan Jones tied the game at 2 in the 8th inning with a two run homer. Dusty made a game saving play in the 11th and then hit an eventual game winning 2-run homer in the top of the 15th.
