JT was the hitting coach for the 1996 CWS team.

The chances of football coming back are better than Travis taking over for JT.

JT was also an everyday player during his career at WSU. He was also one of the most outstanding hitters WSU ever had and also played in the CWS. You may also not want to forget that he was also one of the finest infielders and team players ever at WSU. He didn't win national awards for hustle and grit for nothing after all. Add the fact that he taught Wyckoff how to hit and your argument doesn't hold much water. I think Brent and Gene handle most of the recruiting. I think its pretty safe to say he learned most of his knowledge of "offensive approach" from JT and Gene. Again I don't know if your rational or reasoning for Wyckoff hold water really. I have no doubt whatsoever that he is a great coach and definatlly a guy I would love to have on our staff but not if it means getting rid of one of our current staff (Gene, Brent, JT).

DaShox has a hard-on for everything JT. His posts now always contain the letters JT right next to each other.

He defends a great coach. Nothing wrong with that. SO many folks want to hang the blame of a team on one guy. It's a retarded witch hunt if you ask me and the fact that anyone would think JT needs to go bothers the hell out of me quite frankly. Does that mean I have a hard-on for JT or all things JT? I guess according to you I do but I just think he is a damn fine coach. Say what you will about that but I'll defend the guy to his grave because I'm a true fan that loves the program staff and kids more than I love national championships. I cant say enough about the character of this program what that means to me as a fan. As a fan I always want my team to win but they cant win them all and there has to be something more for my dedication than wins. The character and class that this program is is what I want as a fan. This isn't professional sports and the moto isn't and nor should it be win at all costs. These are young men and its about more than winning. Its about them becoming good men and getting an education and doing things the right way. I wish more fans could get over their own selfish desire for total ownage of all things everyone else and look a little deeper into what they put their time and desire into than wins. Some of you are impossible to please and anything less than a championship every year and you want someones ass. Its freaking baseball people. Anyone can win any given day. Your never going to win them all. I'm tremendously proud of our program and how its run. I as a fan take great pride that the important things in life (believe it or not some things in life are more important than winning) are instilled and taught at WSU. I don't think you can say that about many programs.

Fresno State, #89 RPI, wins the CWS. Their first title in any men's sport. They were the #4 seed in the LBSU Regional and started the year 8-12.

Congratulations to Fresno State!!!!! CWS Champions, 2008.

I feel a kindred spirit with Fresno State right now, knowing that they accomplished the unthinkable, in most people's minds. Starting their season 8-12; 27-33 going into the WAC tourney, winning it to get an automatic bid to their regional where they were the lowest possible seed at #4, then, in the words of the announcer, they "ran through that and all the way to Omaha." A perfect 6-0 in elimination games. Wow. From underdog to wonderdog; destiny, whatever you want to call it. Every player who was interviewed after the game was humble and polite with their "yes, sirs, no sirs." It was a pleasure to listen to. The coach, and this is my favorite part, said that "this isn't a baseball team, it's a baseball program." He credited the university. the fans, the boosters, the alumni, and the community for the team's success.
My husband looked at me and said, "That's just like Wichita State."
And, you know what? (of course you do) It is. We've only been a part of this for a short time, but already we can see THAT.
I am SO excited right now.....I might just be civil to the "Debbie Downers."

What a fun series to watch this year. It certainly reinforces the notion that once you get there, "anything can happen." Wilson was nails, and Detweiler was just unconscious tonight, with 11 total bases and 6 RBI. Mendonca was so good at third base he was not only named the MVP of the tournament, but he made Team USA based on his performance.

This Fresno State team will be talked about for decades.

Mendonca was freaking amazing all CWS. The guy was making plays at third that would have impressed brooks robinson. He was doing it with 4 broken fingers in his throwing hand to boot. Guy was just stealing ball after ball from the shortstop. Kid was something else.

I really missed not having Brent Musburger do the final game, like he did in 1989. He would have loved talking about Georgia football, Alabama football, LSU football, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Bowden, Les Miles, Urban Meyer...oh and that's the third out of the inning, be right back after a commercial timeout. Oh yeah, some guy from Fresno hit a homerun in the inning and leads the game but I don't know the score. When we return, I'll have a special interview with LSU hero Warren Morris followed by the volunteer assistant coach for the Georgia Bulldog golf team.

I miss his rooting for the big-conference favorite and gushing constantly over their All-Universe studs like Scott Bryant for the Mighty, Mighty Texas Longhorns.

I miss him trying to find something good to say for more than 10 seconds concerning the underdog when they win the National Championship over the team he was rooting for.

                              ISASO,

LOL. You do a pretty good play-by-play yourself!!!
For the entire first game and most of the second one, this year's radio announcers were "crushing" pretty hard on Georgia. By the third game, and with different guys I believe, the tide had either turned or that bandwagon got a little shaky.
