  • Here is where I stand

    Hi, everyone....

As a newcomer to this board, I just want to say that I have really enjoyed myself so far and I hope that it can continue. I'm impressed with this forum because, for one thing, I've seen some others that don't have any guidelines set as to language or content, so thank you for calling us to task on that, Royal Shock. As I posted when I first joined, I didn't even know about this forum, but I read an article in the Eagle that linked to here and, well, you can blame them. :D
I spent the better part of an evening reading through all the posts of each thread available here to bring myself up to speed (I can see why you enacted the language and content rule, Royal Shock. It wasn't a total "shocker" to me. lol.).
Anyway, even though I've always liked WSU and followed them (admittedly it's been in the post season up to now), I am not a bandwagon fan.
So, you may be asking yourselves, "Why are you here?" "Why now?"
Well, as I stated previously on another thread, I have a relative (not my child) on the team. I don't wish to reveal who that is because I want everyone to feel free to express their opinions, however brutally honest they are. Believe me, I will do the same. Don't get me wrong...I love this kid because he's such a fine young man and I don't care who you are, if you knew him, you'd love him too. But, if he stinks it up on the field, I'll be first in line to say so (not to him, of course). It's called, "tough love."
Gee, here I go, practically writing a book. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like you didn't know I was a female. BUT, I have always been a tomboy who's played and watched this great game most of my life and managed to pass it on to two of my three kids. I do know a thing or two and I also know someone in here will call me on what I don't know.
My 14-year-old son just looked over my shoulder and said, "Wow, what are you doing? Sports fans don't like to read."
Too funny. Then he asked if that was stereotyping. I knew my tax dollars were well spent when he used the word stereotyping in the right context. :yahoo:
In closing, I want to explain my recently chosen avatar. My little/only brother was born on Oct. 2, 1970. Something good also happened that day, I want all of you to know. The two events are entertwined forever for me. It's time to bring it back, WSU. No time like the present. Peace out.

      Thank you so much rayc,

 Really, I can't tell you how much it means to me to get a positive response and I can't wait to tell my know-it-all son (kids: they think they know everything).

By the way, my son gets his tongue-in-cheek humor from me. We're both real smart.....er.....alecs.

Okay, okay, people....I get it. Maybe it was the cold chill I got down my spine (or maybe it was the air conditioning hitting me during a hot flash-who knows) but I will get rid of my avatar. This is a baseball forum, after all. To be honest, it was kind of creeping me out too.

There was nothing wrong with the avatar. I don't think you're the only one to go with a football theme there.

            Thanks SubGod22,

But I think I'll keep it this way for now. That was a bittersweet day for me. I was just a kid but I remember feeling weird about being happy in the face of such tragedy.
Most everyone on here appears to be a shocker alum, whereas I am not. I grew to love the team this year as if they were my kids. The seed has been planted and I don't see it changing in the future.
Ok, (big breath here) let's lay it all out on the table. I was born in Norman (diving for cover) but I've lived here longer and my husband says that's a great place to be FROM. lol. We like the Redskins - blame it on The Diesel....(diving for cover again); and the Cubs. Underdog obsession? Mmmaybe. I root for a lot of college basketball teams throughout the year...it's a long story. Goes back to 1982, with 1983 being the icing on my first cake, so to speak.

You're not alone on not being an alum. Looks like the Shox are the only decent team you like :P

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Thanks for the welcome. As far as inside info, I'll have to try to remember to ask what people in here may want to know. So far, I confess, it's been fun stuff like which roommates were told they absolutely could NOT hang a mounted animal on a wall of a shared domicile ( because of the expense of future repairs to said wall); hunting trip experiences involving a lot of mud, and other silly things. Sorry, but these are the kinds of things we ususally talk about.

Right back at ya, KC...I think I can hold my own, even though you're scary-looking.

Bring back that cute little girl's face now, please.
