This is a great site for a baseball stat freak!! Does anyone have a list of WSU signed recruits that went pro out of high school over the last 10 or so years? I'd like to look up how they turned out.

Wow, since Gene brought the program back, we've had 147 players drafted, 10 in the first round... KU and KSU combine for 119 and 0 drafted in the first round. I didn't realize KSU had a lot of good players back in the 70's and very early 80's. I wonder if WSU restarting baseball caused their drop off.

I think we also had an impact on Tulsa. They were a baseball power in the 70s, going to regionals regularly and to Omaha a few times.

After we re-started baseball their program went down fast and after a few years they ended up dropping the program. :wsu_posters:

Tulsa needs to bring back baseball. There is so much talent in that city. Granted it would take some of that talent away from Arkansas, WSU and ORU but it would be so nice to have another quality opponent close.

Tulsa could add a women's sport. I see they don't have a swimming and diving team or a gymnastics team. They would only need to add one of those.

Everyone keeps bringing up Title IX. How many female athletic opportunities do we have now? I know we have volleyball, softball, basketball, track...can anyone help me on the rest?

Say we bring back football, we still only have to maintain opportunity that is proportional with enrollment, to the extent that reasonable competitive opportunity is available. I even see news stories which allege that we would have to initiate three new women's sports in order to bring football back. We don't have to bring in three women's sports if there is no one for them to play. If we looked into the deal and couldn't find a viable opportunity, I don't think you're out of compliance. (In other words, we don't have to gather a field hockey team just to have open women's teams.)

Plus, we had football all the way through 1986. Title IX was passed in 1972. If Title IX was such a problem, why were we somehow able to field a football team for 15 years without a violation? Were there additional women's sports? If so, what were they and what is their current status? Can they be brought back?

Soccer would most definitely be added. And there's usually some decent talent in the area
