  • Pelfrey and Looper tonight with excellent starts

Mike goes 8 1/3 shutout innings although bullpen lets Arizona back in it so he gets a no decision. His ERA has dropped over a point in his last three starts. All of Shea was chanting PEL-FREY ! PEL-FREY ! and he left to a standing O.

Also, Braden Looper throws a three hit shut out for St. Louis.

A great night for our guys.

Maybe Pelfrey has finally found his groove in the pros.

I don't follow the Cards much. Has Looper done well as a starter there? He was a closer at one point wasn't he?

In Pelfrey's last three starts he's thrown 21.1 innings and has only allowed 3 earned runs. I think the Mets will make a spot for him when the other starting pitcher gets back.

Looper has had a solid career, hard to believe he is nearing retirement age. Seems like just yesterday he was at the Eck.

Mets will keep Pelfrey in the rotation--even if they do have a new manager soon.

I feel really bad for Pelfrey. He's had 5 quality starts already this year that he either got a no decision or took the loss because the sorry ass Mets couldn't give him run support.

He took losses twice in games he gave up 2 earned runs and 1 earned run, and got three no decisions on games he gave up 2 earned runs, 1 earned run and 1 earned run. Way to reward the kid and boost his confidence. Geesh!

Looper is 8-5 in 14 starts and an ERA of 4.34. He was 12-12 last year in 30 starts for a weak Cardinal team. Overall, Looper may be one of the best, if not the best, pro pitcher to come out of WSU. He's 54-49, pitched in 617 games, started 44 games over the last two years, has 103 saves, and a career ERA of 3.92.

Don't forget the fact that when he pitches all the gold gloves go to ****. Seems like Reyes and Wright in particular (at least the games I've seen) make like 3 errors a game each when he pitches. I don't worry about Mike... I worry about the mets. Mikes fine and will be fine. Now the mets... well they got serious issues and it doesn't have **** to do with Mike.

This looks familiar. Very nice. Especially the 95 mph high cheese.

Pelfrey even got his first hit of the season last night as well.

Mike has ran across some bad luck the last couple of outings, but that happens in the bigs.......I am sure that they have to be impressed that he is showing maturity and still battling even with the O not giving him any runs.

Another good outing today for Mike vs Colorado. 5 2/3 shutout innings, leaves in the 6th leading 3-0.
