Gene is not going to retire, but maybe JT will.

I would not say that there is zero chance Gene will retire, there is always a chance. I see it like some other people do.. he knew this team had the best shot to go to Omaha, and now it's all over. I also think it's a combination of everything that has gone on over the past few months. Would it surprise me to see him retire? no, not at all, especially with all that has gone on. Do I expect him to? Not really. If next years class is as good as people say it is, this team could be right back with a chance to go to Omaha. We are losing a lot this year though

I doubt he will retire. The facility is on the verge of receiving a major facelift in phase 1 and phase 2 will make our facility even better. Gene and the team will struggle next year, but I do not think he will end his career as the coach with the second most wins. I think he wants the top spot for himself.

Not trying to be disrespectful at all, but I will say again, there is ZERO chance he will retire!

The emotion is driven by things outside of baseball and I think the coaches, one in particular, was really hoping it would continue. Think about the times in your own lives where things are difficult or in a state of change. You tend to gravitate towards things that have been a constant.

Gene will probably have to be fired if he is not going to be the coach at WSU and I think the teams performance over the past two years have probably bought him at least five more years.

Thanks KC. Now I know our baseball team will do well next year.

BTW: Why did you watch ESPN2 on Saturday and ESPN on Sunday? :(

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I didn't realize his wife left him and now I've got a really bad feeling about how this will play out. What does it say when one spouse leaves amid allegations of misconduct? It's "innocent until proven guilty" in my book, but this just looks bad.

It was a very, very difficult undertaking not to listen to the radio or the game Sat. or Sun. On Saturday, when my friend text messaged the score and I saw we were down all those runs, I said the hell with it, I've got to see for myself what the hell was going on.

Sunday, I lasted 2 innings before I took a sneak peek to see what the score was. I was hoping we were winning, and if we were, I would've gone right back to not watching or listening. But I saw we were being obliterated and I said to myself, "the magic is gone, I went to the well too many times".

Sorry man, but I can only do so much. I needed another SN poster to back me up with some more negativity and reverse psychology. :D

I say we all chip in and buy KC his mug:

and listen to his theme song:

Just keep it real, right on, KC! ;-)

I thought it was pretty obvious.

This team was something special. When BK says Andy Dirks is the greatest team leader in WSU history, you know the team is special.

Let me throw out the name Eric Wedge as the greatest team leader that I have seen play at Wichita State.

His teammates were scared he would beat the #### out of them if they did not win.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!
