  • I skimmed through this thread as I was gone today, but I don't remember anyone attacking Holt. The play was crap though. I heard Kennedy talk about it on the radio while I was on my way to WSU and figured I'd just have to see it myself. After seeing it, I have to admit I was hoping they'd throw at Holt. Once I saw he cocked his leg and kicked I was pissed. Big difference between a hard slide and a kick.

With that said, I'm happy with the way the FSU posters have handled themselves. I'd love to see us play them more often but really doubt we ever see it happen. Maybe we'll meet up in Omaha sometime. It's a shame that thier season will have to end tomorrow.....Or I guess today. I should be asleep right now as I have more games to do tomorrow and will miss the Shox again.....

    • Well, I've calmed down enough to post here again. :D And, no, my shoe didn't make it through the TV. The fact is, I hardly ever wear shoes. They're a hindrance when I walk on hot coals. I admit Womack wasn't a key factor in our loss this time. I'm also sure he's a fine young man, just as most of our guys are. I'm not sure about that one kid who had a really bad potty mouth on Family Day. On FAMILY DAY! Geez. But, hey, some of you have speculated on here about why he may not be playing ( ie., he may have called Gene a name or something). But, I digress. The fact is, we've ALL been guilty of getting down on certain players during the year and sometimes they make us look foolish for ever doubting them. I've just had an epiphany (sp.?)...I'm going to be proud of them, no matter what. I am certain our guys never did anything intentional to hurt anyone. I can't say that for certain about the other team. So, here's to motivation and may the team who wants it more WIN. To FSU: may you be truly and royally SHOCKED on Sunday.

      • Hehehe...I guess I gave it away with my Family Day comment that I do have a relative on the team. I feel I can be objective, though, since I'm not THAT close in relation. Like I said previously, I didn't know about this site, so I am telling the truth! But I am close enough to know these are really good guys. And MY player tells me they really DO have chemistry on and off the field. Isn't that a crucial element in setting off fireworks?

 :good: :D Here is to a good, clean game by both teams on Sunday.

BTW: What is your opinion of the area around FSU? This page seemed a little strange to me: http://webapps.police.fsu.edu/expone...php?section=48 "They maybe here as students or employees" Is crime near FSU a problem in your opinion? (The only FSU-related person I know seems to think it is.)

The area around FSU is fine. Considering it's one of the oldest parts of the city, it's not all that bad. The area it's mostly student apartment complexes, fast food restaurants, and bars. Tallahassee is a big college town with 80,000+ college students. Tally is also the state capital, making it a much bigger city than your typical college town. Similar set up as an Austin, Madison, or Baton Rouge. Educationally, Leon County (Tallahassee) is the highest educated county in Florida with 49.9% of the population with either a Bachelor's, Master's, professional or doctorate degree.

There is a low income neighborhood located nearby the FSU campus, maybe that's what your friend is referring to. Still, crime is not a problem and students never complain about not feeling safe. Like any city, it has some great parts and some not-so-great parts. In all my years living there, I never had any problems with crime.

If you want to know what crime and bad areas are all about, take a trip down here to Miami. Miami makes Tally's worst neighborhoods look like Club Med.

          • FYI: Potty mouth played on Saturday. I guess everyone deserves a second, third, fourth, chance.

I hope that no one who went to WSU is throwing "crime-ridden neighborhood" rocks at another school. I seem to remember some unpleasant things about the area right around WSU.

              • It is definitely wrong to associate the area in which a campus is located to how well that university educates its students. Duke University is blocks away from very low income housing but is one of the most prestigious schools in the nation.

Florida State and Wichita State appear to be located in similar older neighborhoods. That has nothing to do with how good of a university they are.
