I would respect them if, in addition to being "polite" and "respectful," they were also honest. Holt kicked Weber and prevented Weber from throwing to second. I think FSU and WSU should play cleanly and I was not very happy about the (second) slide into Delmonico.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Right; "raised his feet" is the same as "gave him a kick halfway up the back of his calf, causing him to fall backwards." If you say so.
If their is a side to the debate Spangler smhnole would be on ours

Don't your panties in a wad about my wording. If you look at my posts over here you'll see that I'm pretty objective. Unfortunately my seat at the stadium isn't privy to instant reply like you had at home. I think I was pretty clear that I don't condone what Holt did and considered it very unnecessary.

Uhhhh come on... "he made contact" ....no He kicked him intentionally..I thought you all wanted to let this go. I dont have a problem with it but ;if you want to talk about it..call it what it was...just like Eduardo called it "nothing clean about it".

...you all have a great team ...we will try and show up tomorrow. Hopefully we can get our All American to throw strikes and get some outs early in the game and see what happens.

Our catcher isnt hurt and Im sorry your guy is....Im sure coach Martin will see the replay and he will take care of anything he sees unfit. I think our coach today at the presser said..."I love coach Martin..if its ok for a man to say that about another man." Pretty respectful I would say...I have no problem with the class of this team and our fine university and whatever happens tomorrow we will have a thousand at the airport waiting for them to come home. I wish it was closer so we could of got the 2500 tickets that were remaining according to the ESPN people of course that is if you can believe them...
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

Ditto that. Let's keep it on a good level. Here's to a good game Sunday.

            • Feel free to read the post prior to mine that asked for an FSU fan's perspective on the slide. That's the only reason I commented.

As I said, from my seat (yes with the singers) I didn't see a kick. After finally seeing a reply, he did add an extra kick to the back of the legs of the catcher and I would consider the play (not the player as he hasn't done anything like this all year) dirty.

              • Thanks smhnole for your perspective and for handling yourself with the class that you have. We appreciate it.

I agree ..thank you. you all are great fans and representatives of your FSU. Sorry Im a touch testy about it...I guess its good to walk a mile in mans shoes ect... Holt is fine young man I am sure ..Coach Martin im sure wouldnt recruit anything but good kids. ....it kind looked like a brain fart as he looks and sees the catchers legs and his brain didnt have time to process it before his emotions got the best of him.....no harm no foul..and it made no difference at all in the outcome of the game.....honeslty...regardless of who wins tomorrow I just hope its a good game. good luck

I wanted to comment that equanole has been pretty honest (e.g.
"The simple point is that if we wanted to retaliate, you throw at a hitter for WSU or behind him. You don't kick a guy in the knees if your intention is retaliation for a previous play.

Like I said, if something like that happened to Posey, I would bet all the money in the world there would be a million posts on here complaining about the play."
                    )
and if you are equanole on warchant (or have posted similar comments there), then I withdraw all criticism of you. I also appreciate your quoted post here; I can understand that a replay makes it much easier to see what happened. The hypocrisy of many FSU fans really bothers me.

I think you'll notice me as well in agreement with him as I quickly chimed in once I was able to watch the reply when I got home.

                        • Coaches comments after the game...

                          • Wichita State right fielder Ryan Jones left the game in the sixth inning with cramps in each of his legs. Earlier, Jones hurt his left hand while diving for a fly ball in right. The game was delayed three minutes while trainers applied bandages to cuts on Jones' hand. Stephenson said Jones would play in Sunday's game "unless we have a hurricane."
                          • Wichita State will start junior left-handed pitcher Anthony Capra (9-0, 2.85 ERA) in Sunday's game. Capra, from Arvada, Colo., recorded the final out in Friday's victory over FSU, throwing six pitches.

"The guy threw [six] pitches," Stephenson joked. "He's worn out.
Somewhat surprisingly, Martin said right-handed freshman Geoff Parker will start for FSU on Sunday. Parker (6-2, 4.02 ERA) missed 3 1/2 weeks of the season with soreness in his throwing arm. He was the losing pitcher in FSU's 7-0 loss to Bucknell in the first game of the Tallahassee Regional, allowing seven hits and four runs in 2 1/3 innings.

                          "He's well-rested," Martin said.

Senior Ryan Strauss, who has a 20-4 career record as a starter and reliever at FSU, also was available to start. Strauss (9-1, 4.58 ERA) threw 5 2/3 innings in a 17-8 victory over Tulane on June 1.
Id bet we see we both of them tomorrow...

 :good: :D Here is to a good, clean game by both teams on Sunday.

BTW: What is your opinion of the area around FSU? This page seemed a little strange to me: http://webapps.police.fsu.edu/expone...php?section=48 "They maybe here as students or employees" Is crime near FSU a problem in your opinion? (The only FSU-related person I know seems to think it is.)

                            • smhnole, you bring up a good point. Plays like Holt's slide-and-kick tend to be spur-of-the-moment, emotion-fueled decisions. We should be careful not to attack a player's character too much as a result.

I'm of the opinion that having a competitive nature can make one capable of doing such a thing and still be a pretty good person.
