Found these gems on the scout board:

The reason it comes out now is that the agent involved probably has a relationship with Gene the "stalker" and knocking our ace out of the regional gives them a huge advantage. I would bet money that WSU is at the bottom of this; the agent involved probably "advises" pitchers at WSU on a regular basis and is ticked off because he could not get his foot in the door at OSU. I hope we drop them from all future series and never invite them back to Stillwater. Let them play up there with the little teams in their conference.
If I'm Holder, I am on a mission to find out who is behind this Oliver thing and if it's Gene the stalker, he'd be toast so far as our controllable future is concerned. And if it is him we were right to snub the bastard as we once did.

No accusations, just a wait and see from here.

    I
root for Florida State. They have a history alot like us. Getting to Omaha often but not winning the big one. Plus I like Mark Martin as a coach. Anybody that plays WSU also. I will root for them to lose every game the rest of my life. That includes OU. Their fans are the worst most obnoxius a holes I have ever been around at a baseball game.

…And drumroll please…the most entertaining post goes to…

I don't give a crap about their obvious inferiority complex with OSU baseball. We've pretty well drilled them for years from my memory, so let the record speak for itself, we don't need to wallow in the mud with them. If their fans want to act like spoiled children, by their deeds we shall know them.

Maybe once their disappointment fades they can look at things objectively.

        - They got beat in their own house by a team with a fanbase that travels well. Anything a WSU fan did beyond sitting on his/her hands probably came off as annoying.
        - WSU fans chanted as one of their players got ejected. They mostly didn't understand the story behind it.
        - They lost their best pitcher during the regional.
        - Let's face it, Gene isn't well-liked there.
        - Many fans of losing teams blame the officials.

All those things brought their emotions to a high level and they needed something/someone to direct their anger and disappointment. Of course it's going to be WSU and the umps.

If the roles were reversed, I'd expect somewhat similar comments from WSU fans during and immediately after the fact. Maybe not quite as conspiratorial or paranoid, though.

As far as who is behind the calling out of Oliver, some who knows what they're talking about told me yesterday that the agent (actually called an "advisor") gave him up. After a lot of work together, Oliver apparently switched advisors, and the advisor came forward to get Oliver back.

I don't know this as fact, but as the story of someone who is in the program, and probably knows more than any of us internet-ers.

Well I kind of liked this response to a prior poster who said WSU was roughly equal to OSU:

but , murph,WSU is probably as good as we are

            No, they're really not.

I'm not saying that WSU will be a cakewalk, but we are clearly the superior team.

Would you like to tell me a single great team that WSU beat outside of the MVC? I'll give you a hint - it's ZERO.

They went a combined 0-6 against us, Nebraska, Arizona State and Long Beach State. Meanwhile, outside of the one-game series with Rice, we beat all of the best teams on our schedule this year. That's why we're ranked #14 in Boyd's ISR ranking and WSU is #35.

Interestingly enough, WSU's best non-MVC wins were a 3-game sweep of TCU back in March. That series was in Wichita.

This is, of course, baseball - where just about anything can happen in a given game, but this is for certain - we are clearly better than WSU this year.

If I'm understanding some recent posts on the OSU board and putting the pieces together properly, the info that led to conclusion you were given was false. Someone on the OSU board even posted a retraction and apology. So at this point, it's not clear if anyone has any real idea what's going on.

I'm guessing the NCAA told OSU something was amiss with Oliver. Not wanting to risk forfeiting a regional game in which Oliver played, they declare him ineligible.

If Oliver ends up being cleared, I will certainly understand if OSU fans go ballistic. But in a situation where either the NCAA or OSU has information they think may be credible, what else are you going to do? The timing certainly stinks, but I can't imagine any conspiracy theory that would have the NCAA purposefully try to undermine a BCS conference school in favor of WSU.

I think they still are under the same impression as before ..but the ICON sports agents who were accused have come to the OSU site and plead very convincingly their innocence. ICON said they were not the advisor to the kids family ect...They still believe it is a sport agent who was scorned but now the question is who that might be. But as you said Royal it may come out that a totally different scenario comes down. They just need to hang someone to feel better about themselves.
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

Yep. I just went back and read the topic from beginning to end and it does appear that it's the names that were wrong, not the scenario.

I apologize the being partially off-topic for the following, but I thought this quote was quite entertaining from the Rivals Husker board... basically in a thread feeling sorry for themselves.

(Hey, it's an amusing quote, it just lacks the OSU component :D)

Given that he was handed the keys to a 5-star program that basically has a monopoly over the Midwest (sorry Wichita State), Anderson has failed to keep the program at the level it was at earlier in the decade.
He's right about the performance fall since DVH left for Arkansas, but a "monopoly" over WSU?

We have to be realistic with current culture of college baseball. The past decade or so has seen an upsurge in the popularity of the sport, and with it increased fan exposure. We now have a plethora of unschooled BCS fans who run the weakest, most ignorant smack possible in reference to college baseball. Need mass quantities of proof? See the Rivals College Baseball board during the regular season.

I have to think the details are going to come out soon enough. Do you really think Oliver was deemed unable to play for no reason at all?

Yes, they do. And the NCAA selection committee purposely screwed them out of a super regional because they are still mad at Gary Ward and the committee members hate T-Boone and the Gaylord Family paid some of the committee members off.

I promise you I know how frustrating it is to lose on your own field (I've seen it plenty of times and in '99 it was to you guys) but you really can't think this is the case for one second.
College baseball took it in the shorts because the players were not allowed to decide the game on the field. Period.

I'm responding even though you don't seem to be able to put together a coherent question.

How can losing your ace on a mystery technicallity from years ago the day of the regional not be a screw job? Someone was digging for this in an effort to take the Cowboys out of contention. How can you say otherwise? Throw in the fact that we know nothing about what actually happened and it smells even worse. Three years in a row, the Cowboys have been screwed on some level to limit their chances of getting to Omaha. This year they went all out.

and then some mindless dribble about the only way to fix it is to play the whole regional over again........OK ...good luck with that ..

OH Thank You WuDrWu...for the simple questions and the way you got them to get in touch with their inner cowboy...

And this is why it is such a great rivalry. They can't stand losing to us...and vice versa. It was a huge victory for recruiting in OK.

They do have a very good baseball program, but that's it. They have no football program, and their basketball team is mediocre in a mid-major conference. It's a division 1 commuter school. Wichita is your typical mid-western town. Nice people, low cost of living etc. However, the WSU baseball fans are a tad on the obnoxious side. I guess you can make a parallel between them and OU football fans. Very few actually attended the school.
