So is VT gone for good?

While looking for reactions of MSU fans to the snub from the NCAA, I found this interesting letter: http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs...NS02/805260305
It is unfair if this is not taken care of in a timely manner to assure the success of the team. It saddens and frustrates the swimmers that they are such a low priority with the MSU athletic program. They are a nationally ranked mid-major program and I question how many of MSU's programs can say the same.

I guess I should add that the MSU women's swimming team seems to receive more NCAA respect than does their baseball team. I think Oregon State and MSU deserved invites ahead of OU.

Last year for the regional I was able to score some awesome blue box seats from a couple of New Orleans Univ. staff/really close friends/press members who were leaving for home after we ousted them. They gave me the reminder of their session tickets for 3 seats. It was great. Anyways... while I used these seats for our last few regional games I noticed a couple of WSU fans also seated in the blue boxes that stuck out to me as rather embarrassing representatives of our fanbase :

-Skinny, middle-aged bald dude with potentially more piercings than teeth, who banged on the empty seat in front of him, and rung his cowbell, at a very annoying rate.

-Rather large, older guy with glasses and long, dark hair who heavily berated the opposing team and officiating at every chance. I'm not talking spirited, sarcastic stuff, I mean really classless stuff.

These two seemed to know each other, for whatever that's worth.

I still see long hair at the games, but I haven't seen cowbell for a while.
I use a cowbell although not very often. Only great plays or after the game. I try hard not to overdo it as cowbells can be to much for a lot of peaople with very little use although not as extreme as those air hrns you see fairly often at a lot of parks. I also pound on the seats with regularity. It kind of brings back the stomp effect that we use to get with the aluminum bleachers (that doesnt work so well on concrete), So the seat is the next best option. Now I dont do it every single play or anything but rallies or great plays and such I will. i dont care if i annoy anyone or not. If people come to the park to relax and read a book then they are coming to the wrong place. I was at the championship game though and I did not witness the mother daughter combo you spoke of earlier yelling at fans in the reserved seats so I cant speak to that. But like I said the MSU fans I did witness all seemed to me to be good fans and "in line".
You're the skinny, bald, cowbell guy, or just have some similar game activities?
No I'm not the skinny bald cowbell guy.

That is a good question, it came back last time after a few days but is showing no signs of life now.

You were either too far away in your luxury seats or you're fully deaf. One or the other.

You're the only one having a cow about this. Maybe you should get some ear surgery and hear like the rest of us. Not knowing what all of us heard makes you ignorant. So, please don't offer your opinion on this issue because it's meaningless and irrelevant.

            ... No really, deuces.

Whats your beef with me having an opinion? I'd also like to add that in no way am I having a cow in any fashion. I simply came onto this thread, stated my opinion and the you told me to and I quote... "shut your piehole". I responded with a defense of my opinion and told you that I would shut my "piehole" right after you did. I fail to see "cow" in any of my posts or behavior in this thread. Perhaps you would like to define "cow", "meaningless", "us", "ignorant" and "irrelevant"? What do you want... me to offer an apology for what I saw and for giving a small amount of props to MSU fans for having a little spirit and support for their team? Like I said I didn't see the woman and daughter. But are all MSU fans the same as those 2? Can you troll on another board for the sake of the rest of us that enjoy shockernet. Look man your just being rude at this point and stirring **** just to stir it. Shockernet doesnt need another drama queen... it already has enough.

I was sitting on the hill in center field and the MSU fans screaming was getting on my nerves both games. In fact a friend of mine called us from his box seats (blue seats) to tell me how annoying they were. He wanted a few of us who had been there the better part of the day to come over after the game and rub the win in to pay them back for being such an annoyance. We didn't, but any day the Shox can send the MSU fans home crying is a good day!

I found some of the MSU fans annoying but the ones with whom I talked were reasonable people.

Congratulations to MSU for making the NCAA Baseball NIT as a No. 1 Seed - Road to QualHog

And they get to host (of course they have to start around 4am since the minor league team is playing their that weekend)

                    Springfield Regional
                    Host: Missouri State {5}
                    1. Missouri State
                    4. Binghamton

                    2. Kansas State
                    3. South Alabama

It's mildly interesting to me that they thought enough of the MVC to include 4 teams and that the Shocks were 18-4 against the field.

Considering what happened to their basketball program over the years, I wonder how much more patience they'll have with Guttin and Whattaburger.

Exposing the little ones to these shrill screams probably helped lead to this unfortunate ranking for Springfield in this "best place to raise a family" list. Wichita was 11th in the country; Springfield was bottom ten.

A little off-topic, but you have to wonder about a list that puts Clarksville, TN as the worst due to low educational spending per pupil. I wonder if anyone bothered to check their test scores?

And Honolulu the best, partly due to high spending per pupil. I guess results don't matter anymore. It's all about the perceived intentions.

Clearly, that list puts a high value on high taxes. (Spending $266 per person for park maintenance in Seattle is a good thing?)

Sorry for the tangential observation. And now back to our regularly scheduled programming . . .

Nice point. The screamers do that city in.

And look out.. another list we beat the angelic residents of Omaha, Nebraska in..

Don't let the BJ fans in on this one.
