This is based on stats against teams against the RPI Top 100 as this is the type of competition we will be facing in the Regionals.
Overall team batting average - .282
Overall runs scored average- 7.3 per game. Of course, scoring 60 runs in 4 of the 5 games against Misery State helps this stat out considerably.
Overall runs allowed average- 5.34
10 of these 23 games were games in which mid-week starters pitched.
Runs scored average with our 3 starters pitching the Shox average 7.76 runs per game. Runs allowed average with our 3 starters pitching is 4.53 per game.
Runs scored average with mid-week starters is 6.7 runs per game.
Runs allowed average with mid-week starters is 6.4 runs per game.
In summary, our hitting will have to improve and score more runs. A .282 average will not cut-it. Hopefully the offense will continue its hot streak going into the CWS :D
We cannot afford to go into the loser's bracket. Last year we had some depth, this year we don't. Capra is struggling, our relief is still hot-and-cold and if we have to go to mid-week pitchers to bail us out, the 6.4 runs allowed per game average just won't cut it.
My prediction, if Musgrave and Shafer are not nails and win the first two games for us, then we are toast.
