Here's the quote from Creighton coach Ed Servais that Paul Suellentrop put in his Shockwaves blog:
“You couldn’t ask for more disadvantages,” he said. “It’s ludicrous to play four games in 48 hours and expect your kids to play hard. We’re a third seed and we got screwed.”
Gee, my heart bleeds, as it always does when anything bad happens to Creighton.
In fact, he does have a point -- obviously, Creighton could have avoided the problem by beating MSU, but still: how did SIU, which also won its first round game and lost its second just as Creighton did, end up playing only its third game in this morning's elimination round, while Creighton was working on its fourth? In this format there's little difference between being seeded third and sixth, except for who you play first, so where did the extra game come from?
Wonder if he'll be formally reprimanded the way Gillaspie was?
