We lost the coin flip, shouldn't the 1 seed be the home team anyways?
Yes, they should. But, as befits an organization run by a bunch of clueless academic types, the NCAA doesn't do what's fair; they do what's equal, because they erroneously believe that equal and fair are synonymous. In reality, fairness demands favoring the higher seed -- else why bother to have seeds? -- and equality calls for coin flips and other acts of randomness. So the NCAA does coin flips and alternating designations of home teams.

Caveat: Wichita wins this game. On Saturday, WSU will then play the winner of SIU vs. MSU, which means WSU WILL NOT be the home team for the Championship Game. If a second Championship Game is needed (because MSU beats SIU, and then beats WSU in the first Championship Game), we still WILL NOT be home team for the second Championship Game.
Caveat: Wichita loses this game. WSU will play SIU tonight, but WSU will be the home team. You know what happens if WSU loses to SIU. If WSU wins the SIU game, they WILL BE home team for the Champtionship Game and for the second Champtionship Game, if needed.
I guess they reward the No. 1 seed who wins their games, by not letting them be home team for either Championship Game.
I hope I have this right. What a mess. They need to come up with a better plan for getting the top teams into the NCAA. This one can be brutal.
Unfortunately, Shafer seems to have a knack this year for sudden blowups. Four straight hits out of nowhere, three of them when he was ahead in the count, and one on an 0-2 pitch. Hope he can settle down a bit. He definitely doesn't seem as reliable this season as in the past.
