I agree wholeheartedly with both thoughts.

We are in no way a top 25 ball club right now, but our history gets us in the polls at the consolation prize level.

I guess my point wasn't the 'bad stretch' angle as much as a comment on the perspective that acts like we are the only team that has had some 3-2 weeks followed by a less than .500 week. I don't like it any more than you do, but It happens - otherwise all the teams in the rankings would be 45-5....It was an attempt at objectivity - a mistake I will avoid in the future here.
