  • Mike Jones

The Shockers best center fielder of all time...

Probably the most fun we’ve had with a Center Fielder. Those who saw the game, know why...he couldn't catch a ball to save his life last night. After being pulled out of the game, his replacement brought us this baseball in the 9th.

    It reads:

After all the crap he got out there, that's pretty cool of him to be a good sport about it and do that.

Most noise in the whole ballpark came from the outfield.

    Props.

    ... No really, deuces.

I agree with Moose, Jones was fantastic entertainment last night. It was probably the most fun I have ever had at a game the Shockers lost. He was a good sport.

For those that don't know, Mike Jones is a starting wide receiver on the Sun Devil football team and he is pretty darn good. He is a heck of an athlete and is very fast. He is 6'3" and ran a 4.41 forty coming out of high school.

In all fairness to him, I don't think he could see the ball. I've been there a few times... if you can't see it off the bat, you're in deep dodoo.

This will go down as a classic in Shocker lore. Mike Jones is now my favorite non-WSU college baseball player!!! He gets it!

The sky at the time was brutal and the right fielder had lost sight of those balls also. Hell I lost both those balls when they reached the skyline myself and I was way up in a skybox. It is cool that he was such a sport though. Thats what makes going to the park so fun is the little things like that. To bad we couldn't capitalize on those two balls.

At first I thought this was about our former 3rd baseman...who was not a bad ball player on some really good teams.

                    This is really cool.

As far as the ball is concerned though I saw both and was sitting in the GA section on the 1st base line. Im not trying to brag but I did.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

We could make it about ol' number 4, I like talking about gritty, fiery competitors that can play any position, and have alot of sack.

I was trying to tell my fellow hill brethren about the former Shocker Mike Jones. If I recall correctly, he played a game where he played a different position every inning. I believe he even pitched a scoreless 9th. What year was that? Against whom? (can't remember the details as I was a punk kid back then)
