  • Just let it be...

Last nights loss was the best one of the season. We have been fully exposed in regards to being a top 25 team. With that said, its time to let go of the polls, regional projections and everything else. We need to embrace the underdog role, cheer the shocks on to another Valley title and regional appearance. Maybe we will draw a good regional were we could make some noise and pull of an upset or three. There is no point to rip on coaches or players, we are who we are. Its time for Shocker fans to just let it be. The pressure is off of us tonight against ASU. Just go play ball and have fun Shox.

Finally, someone with a sense of realism in their tone, although, Fever and myself have been preaching this for a while now. The Shox are 11-8 in their last 19 games, (the Tabor win against a non-D1 team is not being considered).

As the season wears on, our opponents now have detailed scouting reports on our team and are doing a very good job of exploiting the many weaknesses. In conjunction with CG and KWJ being out, Shocker fans must now come to realize and accept that it will be a struggle from here on out. It is a curse but a benefit that we still have Evansville and Bradley on the schedule. These games will lower our RPI but will give us much needed wins.

At the midway point of the season, instead of getting better and peaking, the Shox have actually played worse. Or, perhaps the Shox just benefited from a very weak schedule early on.

You are correct that hosting is out of the realm of possibilities and we should concentrate on finishing the rest of the regular season relatively healthy and hope that the guys getting playing time due to injuries learn from their experiences. The only ray of hope I have for this team is that Regionals and Super-Regionals scheduling favors this team. If we can stay in the winners bracket in these two Regionals, our starting three give us the best chance to advance.

If we have to fight out of the loser's bracket, this team is toast.

2008 aside, have we ever gone through a season and not beaten one ranked opponent?

goshockers.com has results dating back to 2001. However, 2001 and 2002 results do not show whether or not the team was ranked, but we did have wins against the Top 25 from 2003 through 2007.

And will this year... although I hate to say it will come in the postseason. :(
