I'm sorry, but the Queens, NY?

Is this guy serious? Does he really think St. John's/Queens is gonna draw for a college baseball regional?

I don't think we can host but damn, you'd think we'd have a slightly better edge than what Queens, NY has.

I guess if you're lucky enough to be in a crappy region, and no else is good, then you get to host, despite deserving to or not.

Doesn't make much sense to me.

Southern Miss doesn't deserve to host either.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

    Why not?
Their RPI was 13 last week.

I think we had this same discussion before. You shouldn't determine the regional hosts simply by RPI alone.

USM has a nice series win at Rice and that's about it. They have a couple shaky losses. I dunno how well they draw down there. I know it's somewhat decent.

I dunno. I'm just not crazy about the 4th place team in Conference USA hosting a regional.

That's just me. I guess there are pros to them hosting as well.

haha yeah, I was just starting off with RPI.

I agree with you that they have positives and negatives and aren't a lock for hosting.

But they are in a weak region for hosts right now, and they made upgrades to their park a couple of years ago and haven't hosted a regional yet. A regional there will draw very well, especially if Ole Miss is the 2.

Anyone else notice the MVC didn't get an automatic bid in this regional prediciton?

Mark probably copy/pasted Wichita State and forgot to change your at-large to auto, since before this week he's had UNI in as the auto.

I would love to see this regional. Although they say it's tough to win 3 games in a row against a good team (TCU), winning four, which would be the case as we would be the number 2 and TCU the number 3, would be a very difficult feat against them.

The NCAA really has been looking to get a host up in the north east for awhile. They want to try and grow the sport in all regions in the country.

So if they can convince somebody in the NE to bid a regional, don't be suprised that NCAA give them one.

Maybe we could get sent to that regional.

It doesn't like it would be a hostile environment. And knowing Shocker fans we would still have a pretty good contingent travel there to cheer on our team.

                      Huh?

Ah, KC, you're back to your old tricks.

It isn't that hard to win four games in a row against the same team if you've already won the first three, as of course the Shocks have against TCU -- what makes it hard to win four straight is that the odds are against winning the first three to begin with.

This is like saying it's hard to toss a coin heads four straight times. Again, not if you've got the first three out of the way. In fact, in the baseball example it's almost surely easier to do, because if you've won three in a row already it's probably because you're better (whereas with coin-tossing it's purely random).

                        1. Nebraska
                        2. Wichita State
                        3. Arkansas
                        4. Illinois-Chicago

This would be a great regional! Probably the most well-attended in the country.

Indeed. It would be near impossible for WSU and Arknsas fans to even to get a ticket for that one. Maybe they could move it to Rosenblatt???
