BA has really surprised me this year. It seems most years we can be playing hot, with a large win streak, and dominating the MVC and they'll be the last to give us recognition. This year, it appears we can't do anything wrong in their eyes. Go figure! I guess they judge us prior to each season, and stick with that take no matter the season's development.

The "Fat-Guy-In-Mom's-Basement" Rival's poll is out, as is the Ping poll, but I'm personally not wasting my keystroke's posting them. ;-)

I expected a 15-17 spot in most polls. I'm surprised we're still that high in the coaches' poll. Then again.. it's the coaches' poll.

Missouri is really sliding south fast. It could be a bit more competitive between us and them to get that last hosting spot. I think we're on the outside looking in still, at this point. The ASU win is a must.. and now it looks like the weather is against us on that one too.

Undefeated the rest of the way.. and we may host.
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

As long as we're bookended in the RPI by .500 teams and the North Carolina-Wilmington's of the college baseball world, we're not sniffing a regional bid.

Beating ONE or TWO solid programs, and spanking up on the lower half of the valley is not a recipe to change this situation much.

I personally let go of regional-hosting hope after 3-2 week #2.

You're right. I think it's too little too late. And I also don't think we can or will go undefeated the rest of the way, so it's all a moot point anyways.

I heard Kennedy say yesterday that this team still has a legitimate chance to host a regional. I think with a strong finish to the season this team can still get one in Wichita. It should be fun to see what happens.

I haven't paid attention before, but as I browsed this topic it occurred to me that we should probably treat published rankings like we do published articles.

From this point forward, go ahead and give WSU's ranking, but rather than include all rankings (in an individual poll), please link to the source.

                    Thanks!

                      Q: Alex from Wichita asks:
Will mid-week losses to Nebraska and Oklahoma St. Ruin the Shocks chances of hosting a regional? Weekend Series against Evansville and Bradley wont help RPI matters, Currently 27 (Boyds World) only single games against ASU and ORU could help. Shocks bound to travel come regionals?
                      A:

Aaron Fitt: Yeah, at this point I think that's inevitable. The Shockers are 1-4 in midweek games against the Big 12 over the last three weeks. That, with their RPI woes, all but kills their hosting chances.
                      Deuces Valley.
                      ... No really, deuces.

                        Royal,

I mean this with zero disrespect, but don't you think that stance might just be a hair over-the-top?

I've never seen a sports-based forum that would ask it's members not to post full rankings in fear of a reproduction faux pas, and I've been on many forums over the years . I can fully understand this stance when in reference to full text articles, but do you really want to pare down something as simple and elemental as a poll?

Never under estimate the power if the almighty dollar. WSU will get high consideration for a regional based on our attendance and facilities. Don't right us off yet.

By the way, TCU is now 33-16 vs a decent schedule. Don't forget that sweep.

For what its worth, today I heard someone say if we don't play well, we might have trouble in the post season with 'BCS schools like Rice and Long Beach'. The baseball model of conference categories is different than other sports I guess is my point there.
