Prediction: The 9th inning hitters are all going to try a swing for the fence (just like they were doing in the 8th) to tie the game up and go down looking like crap and we lose another one run game.

Coaching Staff

Looks to me like the WSU coaching staff did a great job on this one! Capra doesn't last 5 innings. Fleming doesn't get any one out. Gillaspie misses the game entirely. But, two relief pitchers came thru. Mitch Castor, a frosh, led off the 9th with a pinch hit single. Ryan Jones, who had been having a bit of trouble hitting, comes thru with the single to plate two runs. It was a clutch win!

Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Capra was off for the second straight week and Fleming failed to do his part to put us in a real pickle. UNI's throwing error allowed Workman to go third and then score the 2nd run later, Ott walking in two baserunners with the bases loaded for the 3rd and 4th runs and then UNI's manager deciding to make a pitching change in the 9th. UNI's first baseman dropped the pick from short to get Castor aboard, UNI's third basemen making an ill advised throw after Workman's bunt and then we get the game wining hit.

UNI gave this game away rather than we won it outright on our end. But like I said, a win is a win and I'll take it whether we got lucky or not. I'm glad we are on the other end of a 9th inning rally.

We don't hit like Missouri State and thanks to Shafer and Musgrave having magnificent outings this weekend, we still are in first. Hitting still is a concern as well as defense, let's see if the Shox can turn the corner of this victory.

This game is just what I needed. It got that sick feeling out of my stomach. Winning 3 out of 5 I think they won the right 3. Other teams ranked around us lost a couple Missouri Lost twice I know.

Games like that make me glad I have season tickets. Sometimes you see a great play or a Bomb deep into the night. But a come from behind in the ninth inning is special. I LOVE THIS GAME!!
