  • Shox versus Cowboys

I'm very excited about this game. I believe native Oklahoman, TK will be pumped for the game and he's done well against the Big 12 thus far. I think McKeever is going to make his old team pay by blasting a couple of homers.

Hell, if a 10 win Mid-American Christian team can score 4 runs tonight against these guys and only lose by 6, then surely we can score 4x times that many and hold OSU to 3 or 4 runs. You'd think huh?

Ranked 40th in all-time wins. Not bad. Movin' on up. Our conference winning percentage is outrageous compared to the other programs.

Not bad to do it in less seasons than the majority either.

That is a sick winning percentage though.

I might be making the trip down to Stilly tomorrow night. I'm really hoping we can break through finally against a ranked team.

Also, a chance for rain tomorrow night though.. :-x

Well, scratch the trip to Stillwater for me. It looks like the game is a sellout. In fact, it's oversold on tickets. Anyone know the capacity of OSU's stadium?

          That freakin figures.

I guess it's the tube tomorrow night instead. Should be another regional type atmosphere.. only this time in a hostile environment.

Please, for the love of God, let us steal a win..

Go anyway. They'll be leaving after we get a big lead early.

I don't think we need to steal anything, except perhaps a few bases. I'm concerned about our bats, which have been inconsistent, but bullish on Kelley and (presumably) Hoch and their ability to keep the score down and give us an opportunity to win.

It was more than just "encouraging" to see McKeever and Caster perform well against KU. I've known that Clint had it in him, but admit I've gotten a bit impatient waiting for it to emerge. Caster got an opportunity to start and he took advantage of it. If we get Josh back in the lineup, all of a sudden I'm a lot more bullish about our offense.

I have been concerned about our pitching depth: We were short one midweek starter and we had no closer. With the transition of Tyler Fleming to a midweek starter, the unexpected emergence of 5th year Senior Khol Nanney as a reliable closer, generally consistent performances by Logan Hoch, and recent promising outings by Justin Kemp, I now feel that we have a legitimate chance at a solid midweek record. We have enough pitching to win 5 games in a week, even when game #5 is against an OSU or ASU.

Our offense has been explosive but inconsistent, but with everyone healthy we have 7 everyday starters hitting .300 or better. IF we start getting more consistent contributions at 1st base and the DH, I think we will more regularly throw up those 5-run innings. We have good team speed and good baserunners, so our lack of home-run power isn't as big a concern (to me) as it would be if we were playing purely station to station baseball. With speed and gap-power throughout the lineup, we can score runs without relying on home runs.

With a combination of pitching that gives up an average of just 3 runs a game, and an offense that can manufacture runs, I still think we have it in us to be a legit top 10 team and a regional host.

Ticket master is not showing any tickets available - don't know if that means anything (but there are tickets available for the KU game on Friday).

It's probably just because Ticketmaster doesn't allow you to buy tickets on the day of the game.

                            I believe OSU's stadium holds a little over 3,800.
