I think we had the bigger guys as a whole. Now we may not have been as pudgy as the KU guys but we had more height for sure. I'll pass on pudgy guys and take athletic multi sport speed guys any day. But I'm not one of the guys that is obsessed with having a 30 hr a year guy on the roster. I'll take doubles and gap guys all day long that can field their position really well.

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of our poor bunting have been greatly exaggerated.

I have no way to prove it one way or another, but I would say we are not a lot worse or better than the national norm. I see big leaguers fail to get bunts down. Its one of those things that is glaring when it doesn't work on any level, in any game.

              Bunting

Although bunting has been an issue for WSU in past years, I don't think that is the case this year. I think Gene has talked about the fact that it's better this year, too. I've seen 6 games so far this season, & can recall them laying down a number of bunts successfully. Taylor Brown laid down a very nice one to the left side last night that moved 2 runners over leading to 2 more runs when Andy Dirks singled. Since Brown doesn't have a hit yet this year as a frosh, I'm sure he felt good to get the bunt down.

Bunt, hit and run etc. These types of guys are not going to be big boys like KU had who are slow but hit HR's.

Didn't see it mentioned so I wanted to give Taylor Brown props on the sac bunt. It was a thing of beauty!

Edit: That is until I read the LAST post........I'm an idiot.

We have a grand total of 15 sacrifices on the year, and I'll bet we've tried at least 50. Usually we try once, foul it off, then do something different. I'm not a great fan of sacrificing runners over, but sometimes it's the right play, and IMO, we totally suck at it.

sacrificing is better then hitting into a double play.

If those were the only two options, I would certainly have to agree.
