Their starting pitcher did very well and damn near got out of an inning with 4 pitches. When the short stop had the ball I yelled "FOUR PITCHES, NO FREAKING WAY!"

      and then E6 :O

I don't think that anyone on the board really cares if you think it is a bad idea or not.

          Per Gene..
"We'll give some guys an opportunity to play and pitch that really need an opportunity to get out on that mound and that field," Stephenson said Tuesday before a 3-0 loss at Nebraska. "We're going to see some guys that we need to look at."
If you don't like it, you need to deal with it.

Oh no! You got me! Gene has spoken so my opinion has to be changed! Wrong.
I don't need to deal with anything. The hitters got nothing but frustrated this game and most of the pitchers who did throw didn't do very well. Who benefited from playing this game? Nobody. We left 14+ runners on base against a terrible KCAC school, thats good for some great confidence going into an important 3 games. Plus, 80 people showed up to watch as well. Big turnout for such an "important game" that "needed" to be played.

It was at weather.com whenever I typed that. And it rained during the game some, did it not? I saw multiple people with their umbrellas out during the game, they wouldn't do that while it was dry out, would they? So I'd say it ended up being a 100% chance.

Ok, I'm done talking about this worthless game. I hope our hitters can adjust from seeing 75mph fastballs to seeing 90 over the weekend.
What the hell are you talking about?

Dirks had 1 run and 2 hits and an rbi and a bb in his 3 ABs.
Kevin Hall never got a pitch to swing at and walked.
KWJ had a run, a hit, 2 RBIs and a walk in 3 ABs.
Logan Hoch comes in and goes 1/2 and scored.
          RJ got his hit.
          Coleman had 2 hits.
          McKeever had a Hit
Rios never saw a good pitch his first AB so he at least walked and got an RBI.
BBcue had good ABs even though he had just the one hit.
Hill never had an official AB.
Two of Sisney's ABs he never got a pitch to hit so he walked.
Blah blah blah, READ THE BOX SCORE.

Mitch Caster, Roberto Rios, Kyle Sisney were the only ones with an official AB and no hits tonight. That doesn't sound like we had issues getting hits ... we did end up with 13H and 12 walks AND a few HBPs. Put that many men on base and runners are going to get stranded, especially with the umps give the other team a double play with bases loaded and 0 outs.

As for our pitchers, Maune was definitely blue collar but he got experience which is so valuable and I don't get how that is lost on you. Playing an intersquad game < playing NAIA < Playing lower D1 < Playing Lower Conference < Playing Good D1 < Playing Good Conference. That is to say, you take what you can get and if NAIA is what you can get, you take it. One Earned run and you say our pitchers didn't do very well?

I'm glad you are done with this game. I wish I had the power to help you keep you at your word so I don't have to wade through this muck next time I'm reading a thread . It is a waste of everyone's time. You are the kid in class that just didn't get it and kept asking the stupid questions that slowed everyone else down and kept the smart kids from enjoying the classroom setting.

(Darn it, I bet you meant that you are done with THIS specific game. Here I was hoping you were walking away from baseball all together. Oh well, a man can dream.)

For many years we used to play about 30 games a year against non-division 1 opponents.

In fact, the 1989 national championship team played about a dozen games against non-division 1 teams. It didn't seem to hurt them.

My understanding is OU said they simply were no going to show up based on the forecasted weather. WSU did not cancel the game.

In fact, if I remember correctly, if OU had made the trip, the game could have and would have been played.

Your concern over injuries in a meaningless game is a valid one, although we have that same risk anytime we take the field for any game or any practice.

Gene always has and probably always will take these makeup type games. Some years the weahter will dictate more than others. The benefit to me is more long-term in nature as we get a lot of the younger guys game experience at some level which should prove beneficial in there long-term development.

I don't know how many pitchers Tabor went through, but I found it odd that they all came straight from the dugout with no warm up...at least 4 or 5 of them.

That was a cold and wet game. At first pitch, maybe 300 fans, by the 7th inning about 100 and when the game was over 50, if that, with half of them Tabor fans. They sure got excited anytime their team scored a run, got a hit, got a walk, got the shocks out....fouled a ball, didn't drop a catch, did slip and fall, and so on.

There were a few slip and falls, but if I recall they were all by Tabor players. As for injuries, my 3 year old daughter tripped on the steps at the center field pavilion, but sustained no lasting injuries. She also bit her lip, causing a small cut and slight amount of bleeding, but she should be ready for tonight's game.

You may want to contact a personal injury attorney about this situation there could be some liability on the part of the University.

Sweet! If that's the case, she's probably hurt herself 10 out of 15 games we've been to this year. Maybe will just stockpile the injuries and bring one big lawsuit at the end of the year.

Actually, now that I think about it, there was an injury. The Tabor pitcher collided with the 1st baseman (I think), trying to catch a pop fly. The pitcher was on the ground a couple minutes before he got up.

I wasn't going to revisit this game, but since everyone decided to pile on, I'll respond one last time:
I started in this thread by saying, in my opinion, it would be a bad idea to play the game due to the weather which could cause injuries to important players. Whats so bad about that? Wasn't the weather poor all day? Couldn't a wet field cause injury? 2 valid points, were they not? Then I'm bombarded by people telling me to "shove it" and that my opinion on the matter isn't valid. When I was told to shove it, then I decided to make a mockery of the thread and the game, wasting everyone's time. If you notice, I was being quite easy-going at the beginning of the first page and a few people agreed with me.... then I was told to "shove it" and then I decided to be an imbecile and waste everyone's time. Go ahead, look, I'll wait.....
Of course people gained experience from this game, its pretty freaking obvious that a Freshman pitcher who rarely pitches will get valuable experience in a game like this when the regular starters are benched, but was it really worth risking a pointless injury of one of our top starters (top 4 guys in the lineup last night) for a game that doesn't matter? Thats all I was getting at. That's it. Maybe a few people on the board need to be a little more respectful of others opinions on a matter instead of throwing insults around or telling them they're completely wrong, which I don't believe I was completely wrong by saying wet conditions could cause injury and that the game should be avoided if at all possible due to being meaningless in nature. Hi-jacking of threads with ludicrous comments and arguments would happen far less if people were a little more respectful. I'm a pretty easy guy to get along with until people start insulting me. Then I can get really, really annoying.
