  • Shocks vs Bluejays

Anyone hear if the game is going to be rained out? I wonder if Gene wants to play on a wet field in a game that doesn't mean anything.

They are just plain stupid if they play this game today.

This is a no win situation for the players. I was told that Gene asked the regular starters if they wanted to play and most of them said they did. (Actually, what would you as a college athlete respond to if your coach asked you a question like that) Getting some guys some playing experience is never a bad thing, but if they hammer this team it is because they were suppose to, if they barely win; then they gey questioned as to why. God forbid if they would loose this game, this forum would string the whole team by the short hairs.

Getting your alotment of games in is not worth the agony of filling it in with a team that is not suppose to be competitive.

I would suggest a moratoriam on a discussion thread not during, but after this game is over. Having all the pesimists that hang aroung hear beat up the team that had absolutely nothing to do with the scheduling may get painful. Just a suggestion.

      Go Shocks!

Yes, it would not be a good idea to play today... But if they should decide to, I'll be there. :good:

I would also like to make a suggestion. I suggest a moratorium on moratoriums.

          Oh...

Okay, now I get it. For a minute, I was wondering what the heck we were talking about, but I missed the distinction between the (NAIA) Bluejays from Hillsboro and the real enemy Blue Jays from Omaha.

Gee, couldn't they at least find a team who doesn't share a nickname with someone from the Valley?

As of now, the game is on. I hope none of the players hurt themselves playing on wet turf and in a wet outfield. Personally, I think it's a big mistake to play a game in conditions like these against a KCAC/NAIA conference opponent that won't complete past 7:05pm. Only bad things can happen.

It's not that bad out apparently, as most high school games around the area are being played today. WSU has a tarp to cover the field at least, I don't think there's any reason this game can't be played tonight

Its a game against TABOR in wet conditions. That's why it doesn't need to be played today.

That's what I was thinking. Right now these are probably above average conditions from what we have been seeing this spring.

Weekend forecast looks decent for SIU.

Next weeks KU game looking a little iffy based on the long range forecast as of now. Sure would be nice to get more every other one of these mid-week games against quality opponents in.

That may be true, but this is Tabor, not OU or KU or KSU or ORU or Arizona State. TABOR. WSU will blow them out early. This won't help the team in the long run. Why risk an injury in wet conditions against an opponent like that?

You seem to know quite a bit about baseball why not call Gene and tell him your thoughts.

He is an open minded guy I am sure that he will listen to you explanation and then tell you so shove it.

Maybe it is wetter at 21st & Hillside than it is around 13th & Webb. Pretty darn dry out here with nothing more than an occassional light mist. Less than what you would put on the field to settle the dust down.

Isn't this an opinion-based message board? Or did I stumble into your personal household where you are the king and everyone else has to run opinions by you to make sure its ok? You know much less than you think you do, ace. I'm voicing my opinion on the issue, a rather educated one at that, and you come with this? Of course Gene isn't going to listen to me as he has no reason to. He doesn't listen to anybody besides JT, Brent and his players. Why even bring it up? Are you trying to prove something to someone? I think its a bad idea to play the game tonight. Big deal, its how I feel. Deal with it.

I'm at 13 and West right now and it was raining fairly hard for quite a long time about an hour ago. Maybe it missed Eck, but there's still a 90% chance of rain tonight that will no doubt make the field a little wetter as the evening goes by. In a related item: they canceled the OU game last week before a drop even hit the ground.

I don't think that anyone on the board really cares if you think it is a bad idea or not.

                              Per Gene..
"We'll give some guys an opportunity to play and pitch that really need an opportunity to get out on that mound and that field," Stephenson said Tuesday before a 3-0 loss at Nebraska. "We're going to see some guys that we need to look at."
If you don't like it, you need to deal with it.
