Actually Musgrave can hit the crap out of the ball. I got to watch him alot while he was growing up and he was one of his teams best batters and the best pitcher. I say let him swing it !!!!

Jim Thomas said that Bret Bascue has been looking pretty good in batting practice lately.

He said Clint McKeever just mashes the all in practice, but has not been able to carry it over to the game.

He said they keep an eye on all the guys closely, always looking for someone that is "getting it".

I guess this is my whole point about this whole thread. If JT is saying that He hits pretty good in practice. However not good enough for at least an oppurtunity at K-state and Creighton. I was looking at the stats. Bascue was 2-4 angainst LBSU. Then went o-3 the next day> Has not started since. Maybe he did call Gene something.

By the way I just remembered last year with the game on the line against Arizona. Who came into PH and drew a walk. Got pinch ran for but it was his AB that scored the winning run. How do you go from having that much confidence in someone to not much of a chance.

I don't claim to know the dynamics, but it comes down to "making the most of your opportunity".

Bascue got the early opportunities and didn't really run with it, then Kenny Williams got his opportunity and he made the most of it. Was it fair to Bascue to drop totally off the radar? I can't say because there is a lot going on that fans don't see.

It does sound like that Bascue is going to get another opportunity, I hope he can make the most of it - WSU needs the DH to quit being a blackhole.

Cant argue with you on that one SB. I hope he takes advantage of his next oppurtunity as well.

"We haven't found the answer yet," Stephenson said. "I think (Bret Bascue) is about due"
