Bad news: Tulane released their BSB schedule and we're hosting them this season in April. No NOLA trip this year unless you're following the Volleyball team down there in October.

2017-18 Schedule
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

I have done some research and found these dates:
March
2-4 Nebraska
6 at Oral Roberts/vs SIU Edwardsville (obviously the date of one of these is wrong)
16-18 at Creighton
20 vs Oklahoma
27 at Central Arkansas
29-31 at East Carolina
April
3 Oklahoma State
6-8 Tulane
10 at Oklahoma State
13-15 UConn
18 Kansas
20-22 at Houston
24 at Kansas
27-29 at Central Florida
May
2 at Kansas State
4-6 Cincinnati
8 Oral Roberts
9 South Dakota State
15 Kansas State
17-19 at Memphis
22-27 AAC Tournament in Clearwater, FL
If you count the not-yet-scheduled series with South Florida and assume that we will play at Oral Roberts and versus SIU Edwardsville (though obviously not on the same date), that puts us at 42 games.Last edited by WuShock16; November 29, 2017, 11:17 AM. Reason: Realized that the Nebraska series is in Wichita...78-65

Also a "hmmmmmmmmmm": Space Coast water temperatures average about 78 degrees at the end of April with air temps in the mid to upper 80s. 1 hour drive to UCF.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. Shocker Baseball releases the 2018 Schedule.
Looks like HCTB trying to schedule a few more wins in the non-con as it doesn't seem nearly as tough as it has been in the recent past.
But the tough AAC will tell the tale about this year's team.

My initial reaction to the non-con schedule is that it looks quite a bit easier than recent years and I think it is. However, in taking a closer look at the schedule there is no guarantee the Shocks will be breeze through their non-con slate of games.
Last year Boyd's Nation ranked the Shocks 132 in their Iterative Strenth Ratings (ISR) and the Shocks had an RPI of 148. I realize last year's rating indexes are not a very good predictor of how good teams will be this year but despite seemingly easing up on the non-con schedule the Shocks still have 21 of 32 games against teams that had better ISR's than the Shocks last year and.24 of 32 non-con games against teams that had better RPI's than the Shocks last year.
The number on the left is the number of games scheduled, followed by the opponent, the opponent's records last year and the 2017 ISR/RPI ratings.
Games against higher ranked teams using 2017 ISR:
3 - McNeese State 39-20 (52/46)
3 - Nebraska 35-23 (55/61) Ranked #39 in Collegiate Baseball's 2018 Pre-Season Top 40
2 - Oral Roberts 42-16 (76/77)
3 - UT Arlington 30-25 (98/106)
1 - Missouri 36-23 (44/49)
1 - Oklahoma 35-23 (46/29)
2 - Central Arkansas 33-24 (107/115)
2 - Oklahoma State 33-24 (58/47) Ranked #27 in Collegiate Baseball's 2018 Pre-Season Top 40
2 - Kansas 30-28 (72/64)
2 - Kansas State 29-26 (75/99)
Wichita State 28-30 (132/148)
Games against lower ranked teams using 2017 ISR
3 - Omaha 12-39 (281/280)
1 - SIU Edwardsville 23-28 (226/217)
3 - Creighton 25-24 (165/158)
3 - Furman 33-28 (134/107) Furman was 2 spots behind the Shocks in ISR - Furman was 31 spots ahead of the Shocks in RPI
1 - South Dakota State 22-24 (239/239)
I have no idea how the Shocks will fair against this non-con schedule but it is a bit depressing to see where the program is based on last year's ratings relative to this field. What is clear is that this is not a killer schedule and if we struggle against this schedule the AAC will probably eat our lunch (after they steal it) and the handwriting has to be on the wall for ADDB.
