  • Shockers vs. Aces (3 Game Series)

Evansville (15-32, 6-8) comes to town this weekend for the final MVC homestand in the history of WSU baseball.

Likely starters for the Shocks (23-25, 7-8) per the Game Notes are Zach Lewis (RH 3-3, 2.70), Keylan Kilgore (LH 0-1, 5.32) and TBD. Evansville expects to trot out Patrick Schnieders (RH 3-5, 4.08), Connor Strain (RH 2-4, 2.57) and Justin Hayden (RH 4-5, 5.12).

Team ERAs are WSU 5.05 vs. UE 5.14. WSU hits .269 as a team vs. .243 for UE.

Shockers' RPI sits at 137 entering the weekend, Aces is 259.

Good guys need to find some pitching depth behind Lewis pronto to pull off the sweep but anything less would still be disappointing.

Not to be too hopeful, but it'd be nice to be in the winners bracket from the get go come conference tournament with him going Game 1.

In other Valley action Missouri State rolled over Indiana State 14-4, DBU edge Bradley 9-8 and SIU nipped Illinois State 3-2.

Shocks pull to within 2 games of Indiana State and maintain their 1 game lead over SIU. The Shocks lead 6th place Evansville by 1.5 games.

Obviously the challenge for the Shocks at this point is how to patch together the pitching staff beyond Zach Lewis. Who will step up? Need a good part of the pitching staff to step up and carry the load.

I was using my crystal ball :(

Aces up 2-0 to the 3rd as the Shocks strand a couple RISP in the 2nd w/back to back whiffs by Boyer and Young to end the inning.

These umps are not very good.

                        3-0 UE to the 4th.

WOW. Bohm ties it w/2 outs in the 9th with a 3 run jack after the UE 3B dropped a foul pop up on the prior pitch.

Still 5-5 to the bottom of the 10th. Shockers gave up a single run in each of the first 5 innings but the bullpen has been nails down the stretch as the hitters pieced together the comeback.

                            Let's get a walk-off please.

Croft reaches on a passed ball strikeout to lead off the 10th.
