Game 3 Final Score: Missouri State 8 - Wichita State 1

The sweep by Missouri State was not particularly surprising. However, the fact that the Shocks were only really competitive for about the 1st 7 innings of Game 1 is pretty disappointing.

Alec Bohm and Trey Vickers had good series. They combined for 11 hits. The rest of the Shockers who played combined fro 10 hits.

Repeated the mistake in the 7th inning of Game 3 in which MSU pretty much put the game away.

No reason to think anything will change until something is changed. Now is the time to contact people *cough Hooper cough* to see if they would have interest if a position became available.

The mediocrity and lack of competitiveness in games against good opponents, especially on the road, is pretty disheartening and stands in eye-catching contrast to some of WSU's other programs -- most notably Marshall's headliners.

It doesn't help to rehash or second guess, but how might things have been different if WSU hadn't insisted on keeping Kemnitz and thus made the job more attractive to DBU's head man back when Butler was hired?

On sports daily they said Hooper home is still in Sedgwick County.

Reported when Hooper was hired by the Padres in January 2016:
Hooper will spend most of his time working with infielders for the Padres’ six minor-league affiliates, but he won’t move with his wife, Lindsey, and two daughters away from the Wichita area, and he said he’ll spend about 10 days at home each month.

What has happened to Landon Holifield. I know he seemed to be having some problems with his command but he has mostly disappeared. He has made only 2 appearances in the last 12 games. He faced 2 batters against Oklahoma State on April 5th walking 1 and getting an out on a liner to SS. He didn't pitch agains unitl this weekend when he faced 1 batter in Game 2 of the Missouri State series and walked that hitter.

The walk in his MSU appearance was to leadoff the 7th inning with the Shocks down 7-4. They brought in Adam Keller who after getting the 1st batter he faced gave up a single, walk, wild pitch to score a run, single and a grand slam home run.

I was thinking maybe Holifield had an undisclosed injury but that doesn't appear to be the case but he seems to be in the doghouse right now and is on a really short leash when he does get a chance.

If I ran these numbers correctly Alec Bohm and Trey Vickers averaged .458 on a combined 11 of 24 against Missouri State. The rest of the Shocks were 9 of 74 for a paltry 0.122 average.

Why would they want to play us in their new league??
Don't get me wrong, it would be a solid Non con series every year, I just don't see them doing it.
They'd be nuts not to play us every year in baseball. It's us who should be thinking about whether or not we want to lower ourselves.

Confused. Who is they and us?

If I'm tracking correctly, I don't think WSU Baseball couldn't lower its stature much further.
                      Basketball Season Tix since '77-78 . . . . . . Baseball Season Tix since '88

Yep, our baseball program sucks all kinds of hind end right now. In other news the sky is blue.

If only the requirement for the CWS was average height of your roster. We'd be a national championship contender.
