Thought I would start a game thread if for no other reason than to bump the depressing Fire Todd Butler thread off the top of the page.

    No score after 1 inning.

To save time. Shox will probably take a two run lead into the 8th, and give up seven.

Well they did get their 2 run lead in the bottom of the 3rd on a 2-out, 2-run single by Alec Bohm. The Shocks put runners on the corners with 1-out and looked like they were going to waste the opportunity after Luke Ritter popped out to SS and Alex found himself down in the count 1-2. Alec hit a grounder up the middle that the KU SS dived for but it kicked off the end of his glove into short right center. With the CF pulled around towards left with Alex batting Greyson Jenista scored all the way from 1st base making a nice slide arund the cather following Jordan Boyer who was on 3rd.

Keylan Kilgore has pitched 4 scoreless innings for the Shocks.

Kilgore gets the 1st out in the 5th and then gives up a single. After going 2-0 on the next batter the Shocks make a pitching change with Connor Lungwitz on in relief.

Connor gets 2 pop ups to finish the 5th. Shocks lead 2-0 after 5.

With runners on 1st and 2nd on singles by Jenista and Ritter and 1 out Alex Bohm uppercut a center cut fastball for an infield pop up. Willie Schwanke came through with a soft single to right center with Ritter going to 3rd but Ritter round the base to aggressively and was thrown out trying to get back to the base to end the inning.

Shocks lead 3-0 after 5 complete..

Shocks bring in Ben Hecht to start the 6th. Ben walked 2 guys with 2-outs but got a strike out to end the inning.

Short leash tongiht. Ben Hecht struck out the 1st hitter in the 7th but fell behind the next hitter and gave up a single to right on a 3-1 count. Shocks pull Hecht in favor of Chase Sanburn.

On Sanburn's 1st pitch the KU pinch hitter line a shot to left center the was tailing away from CF but Alex Jackson made an outstanding diving catch for the 2nd out of the inning. Sanburn then walks the next batter to bring the tying run to the plate. Neither Hecht nor Sanburn have had good command tonight. Sanburn comes back to get a strike out to end the 7th with the 3-0 lead intact.

Gunner Troutwine lead off the Shocker 7th with an infield single. Jordon Boyer failed to get the sac bunt down before striking out meekly. Greyson Jenista then singled sharply to center which may well have scored a run had Boyer done his job. Luke Ritter skied out to shallow left and Alex Bohm struck out on 3 straight fastballs swinging and missing a center cut fastball for strike 1 and then take 2 strikes on the outer half of the plate. Not a good effort.

Codi Heuer comes on to start the 8th inning.

Boy, these Shocker relievers are struggling finding the strike zone consistently. A 1-out single on a 3-2 count and a walk on a 3-2 count brings the tying run to the plate again. The Shokcer pitchers have only given up 3 hits but they have walked 7.

Nice back to the plate running catch on a foul pop down the left side by Alex Bohm for out #2.

Heuer goes to another 3-2 count before gettin a fly ball to straight away center to end the Jayhawk threat.

In the Shocker 8th Willie Schwanke got an infield single in the 5-6 hole. Dayton Dugas laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt. So good in fact he beat it out for a single.

Unfortunately, Alex Jackson's sac bunt attempt pretty much lead the KU lefthanded pitcher right to the ball on his follow through and a throw to 3rd for a force out.

Trey Vickers followed with a fly to deep left that would have scored the runner from 3rd had Alex properly executed the sac bunt.

Noah Croft, who was inserted in the top of the 8th for Gunnar Troutwine, stayed hot as he delivered a 2-out rbi sngle to left field to score Dayton Dugas.

After 13 singles, Jordan Boyer one-hops a double off the wall over the leftfielder's head to plate two more runs and put the Shocks up 6-0.

Greyson Jenista with his weakest hit ball of the day is safe on a throwing error by the KU 2nd baseman. Boyer scored on the play and Jenista moves to 2nd base as the Shocks lead moves to 7-0.

Travis Young makes it 8-0 with a sharply struck pinch-hit rbi single to center to score Jensita.

Good job of picking up their teammates by Noah Croft and Jordan Boyer and good job of making KU pay for their error by Travis Young.

Preston Snavely will start the 9th inning on the mound for the Shocks. Snavely closes it out. Gave up a 2-out single but generally looked the sharpest of the releivers.

Always nice to beat the Jayhawks. Especially after you gifted them a game a week ago in Lawrence.
