  • WSU at Cal Poly (Game 1)

Shocks hit the road with first pitch at 8 PM CST this evening. Anticipated pitching matchup features Willie Schwanke (RHP, 2-2, 4.03) vs. Erich Uelmen (RHP, 1-3, 2.05).

There won't be many listeners for the first few innings as everyone keys in on tonight's NCAA Tournament game, but hopefully we can tune in afterwards and enjoy a couple of Shocker wins this evening. Willie needs to bounce back after a couple of mediocre road outings and here's hoping he has his A game.

Looks like there is a video stream of the games available on Big West TV.

      Road series?

      I'm hoping for 1-2 then.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

I don't think the fact that its on the road vs at home is a real big factor. The bottom line is that the Shocks schedule so far has been weak at home and very strong on the road. Cal Poly is much closer to Utah Valley, Grand Canyon, Omaha and Northern Colorado in stature then they are to LaTech, OU and LSU.

The Shocks 10 wins have come against a schedule with a weighted average Nolan Power Index of 213.1. The Shocks 6 losses, all on the road, against a schedule with a weighted average NPI of 19.5. Cal Poly has an NPI of 232 at this point.

The Shocks should win this series (probably should sweep) but it is not impossible that they would go 1-2. 16 games in and will still don't quite know what to make of this Shocker team for sure other than we are somewhere between those two group of teams.

Bottom of four tied 1-1. Seven strikeouts by us so far. Ritter moved back to the clean up spot and has two of the strikeouts.

Poly pitcher ties career high in strikeouts now at 10. Vickers only Shocker who hasn't struck out so far.
