Yes I agree they have to do very well in the MVC AND the non-conference to be a national seed. That is why I think pitching one of our top three in mid-week games against the best opponents is the best chance to do that.
I think we have all gotten used to this coaching staff saying "pitch your best available pitcher". I agree with this 100% in the post-season when there is no tomorrow, but I disagree with that during the season. You should look at the week ahead and plan to use the pitchers that give you the best chance to win the most games that week.
When it comes selection time a win over ASU, or a 6-2 record against the Big 12, or 2-0 versus ORU is going to be way more important than a conference loss or two against an Indiana State or a Southern Illinois.
