  • Wichita State vs Omaha

Decent weather for this time of year. Mid-50's and sunny. Brisk 20 mph wind out of the NW however. Carry will be to the right side.

6-4 So. RH Codi Heuer has the start for the Shocks. I would expect a fair number of Shocker pitchers will see action today.

Omaha has a team ERA of 8.45. Shocks need to put up some runs today against this pitching staff.

Dayton gets an infield single and steals second on the 1st pitch. I like it. Now lets see what Greyson and Alec can do with the opportunity.

Greyson Jenista walks. The kid reminds me a lot of Casey Gillaspie. A very good eye and very patient.

A strike pops out of the catchers glove. Dayton breaks for 3rd. Catcher throws it into LF and the Shocks are on the board with a small ball run. Jensita takes 2nd on the play and moves to 3rd on a 6-3 ground out by Alex Bohm.

Trey Vickers inside-outs a pitch past the 2B into RF for a 2-out RBI single.

Alex Jackson walks pushing Trey into scoring postion but Sam Goodwin strikes out to end the inning.

      Shocks 2 - Mavs 0 after 1.

Noticed one of the Shock relief pitchers working a BodyBlade in the bullpen. Another example of different thinking by Coach Mike Steele.

If you aren't familiar with a BodyBlade this is what it is:
Bodyblade® was created in 1991 by physical therapist Bruce Hymanson with the goal of providing his patients a functional method of training the body that could adjust to the level of any user.

Codi navigates around the adventures of Dayton Dugas in the 2nd. Dayton played a fly ball to RF with the help of the wind into a ground rule double. Codi then uncorked a wild pitch advanced the runner to 3rd with no outs.

Cody got a strike out and a swinging bunt down the 3rd base line that he made a nice play on to get two outs. On the next batter Dayton Dugas pretty much whiffed on a foul fly down the RF line but Codi came back to get the inning ending strikeout.

At least Dugas looks good walking back to the dugout after a strikeout.

            ... No really, deuces.

In the bottom of the 2nd a 1-out single up the middle by Jordan Boyer and a walk by Travis put runners on 1st and 2nd.

But Dayton struck out and Greyson flied out to RF to end the threat.

6-6 R-So RH Matt Whelan on in the 3rd in relief of Codi Heuer who threw 2 scoreless innings.

                Decent debut for bit Matt.

Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.
