Willie leaves the game after 6.2 innings and 91 pitches with a 1-0 lead and a runner on 1st. Clayton McGinness on in relief.

Great job by Willie. Hopefully, the Shocks pen can preserve this lead for Willie who allowed only 3 singles.

Clayton gets a K to end the 7th.

Sample size still very small, but it's hard to imagine a better start for Coach Steele and his pitching corps so far.

However, you can't reasonably expect to win games scoring 1 run.

        ... No really, deuces.

Great job by Biechler wiggling out of the jam he inherited in the 8th.

          Still 1-0 WSU to B8.

Yeah, that was definitely making some good pitches in a pressure situation.

I was thinking the same thing although was afraid to express that. Still some work to do in this game.

Maybe HCTB should not have stopped with only a change in pitching coach this past off season although Jake Wong shut down OSU last week as well.

Biechler gets a 1-2-3 ninth to pick up the save in 1-0 Shocker shutout. Terrific showing by Willie, Clayton and Reagan.

Bats need to wake up for Game 2 obviously, but this was a fun win. I am loving our bullpen's turnaround.

One run on 5 hits vs. lower tier D1 pitching is very telling.

Only run scores on a double play.

To be fair, this lower tier D1 pitching shut down Oklahoma State last week.

OK. I'll be happy with this win. Next.

Really. What does that tell us about Oklahoma State.

My opinion is that GCU's Jake Wong is a pretty good college pitcher at any tier.

Yea I'm not real concerned with style points after last season's Hindenburg crash imitation. Just glad to finally be winning some close games and not beating ourselves (so far).

There definitely appears to be a major change in our relievers' focus, though, and it is great to see.
