As much as I would like to agree with you that it was good pitching, the theme for this team the last few years has been for the most part, bad hitting. We'll have to see what the season brings, but I'm expecting a lot of strikeouts in 2017.. from our hitters, not our pitchers.

Are they letting the pitchers throw breaking balls yet? I know I saw where this fall they were making them just throw fast/change to work on location.

Either our pitching is much improved or we are still swinging freely. 61 strike outs between the two teams in 201 at-bats. That is far worse than the terrible strike out numbers we saw last season. Hopefully this is just a result of a lot of new people getting some ABs.
