I don't follow baseball or the thread, but FYI for those who have XM radio - GS did an interview on XM channel 84, I assume from the CWS. I don't know if they'll replay it but a lot of times the do because the original sports content can get pretty thin. It was on around 1130am this morning.
Pretty good interview with a former Notre Dame player and another guy that had played against his teams and were clearly thrilled to be talking to him. Only tidbits from the 5 minutes I caught that I can recall are:
The interviewer said he was convinced that Jim Audley was the fastest man alive, but GS said he thought 82 was his fastest team.
He still feels and thinks of himself as 35 since age is just a number. Said he thinks he could still get results anywhere and that he would pay to coach.
Talked about the building of the program and resources quite a bit. When asked if he ever imagined having all of the resources he needed up with his response was (after a pause) - "Yes, in fact I wondered why it took so long".
Interviewers brought up repeatedly the 6 CWS appearances in 9 years, as well as the all black unis and the general reputation of the program.
Anyway, that's about all I remember and I hate typing on iPads. No idea if people still like him, but figured there might be a couple interested.
