In the annual preseason poll of Valley coaches the Shocks are picked 3rd behing Missouri State and Dallas Baptist. MSU received 5 1st place votes, DBU received 2 and the Shocks 1.

Ryan Tinkham, Gunnar Troutwine and Sam Tewes are preseason All-Conference picks.

Ryan Tinkham also chosen as a Collegiate Baseball Pre-season 2nd Team AA.

While their player picks are usually consistent with peer publications, their polls are messed up. I won't post the links to the polls, but the difference between the CB and Baseball America polls is laughable. For example, the latter has Oklahoma State listed as a Top 10 program, whereas the former has them at 25th. Missouri State is listed as a Top 25 program in CB, but is missing from BA. I get it: pre-season polls don't matter, but the disparity between the two is usually this bad even as the season unfolds.

Nothing to be too happy about. I really don't expect the Shocks to have any preseason cache until they can prove they can get it done between the lines. But it is time to start showing the program is moving in the right direction. Only one way to do that.

I agree. I am hoping for a higher finish than that based on the fact we didn't lose much to the draft and we played better baseball the last third of the season. I also expected MSU and DBU to be down this year based on the amount of talent they lost to the draft.

I think things are aligned pretty well for us this year. If we don't finish 1st or 2nd this year I think it's fair to say we aren't making much progress towards where we need to be.

Yep. This is a big year.

I am very optimistic about this season and have high hopes for the direction of the program. But it really is time to start showing results. Another season where we do not contend for an at-large bid would be unacceptable IMO.

I usually am not a huge fan of black and white thresholds for success. However, this season it is regional or bust for me. We need to get back on the stage.

I am just hoping the Shox play well enough for at-large bid this year. If they can take care of business in non-conference they should be well positioned with the strength of the conference.
