Black and Gold 2015

Did anyone get out to the black and gold game? If so, what were your thoughts on the players you watched?

I did not see the game but I was struck by the pitching line of the Gold team's 3 ptichers: Willie Schwanke, Chanlder Sanburn and Zach Lewis. No earned runs (1 unearned run) while only allowing 3 hits and facing only 3 batters over the minimum with 11 K's and only 1 walk.

However, the problem with intra-squad games is that it is hard to know if that indicates a strong effort by the Gold team are a weak offensive effort by the Black team.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who did see the game to get a better feel for that.

In talking with some; for pitchers to have a good line in an inter-squad is pretty good. Since most of the time the team has hit against these guys so much in practice they can usually light them up. Or it could mean we are in for a long season of no offense. I'll lean towards good pitching.

Game 1 Observations

The best thing I observed at Game 1 was the showing of the 2 starting pitchers, Willie Schwanke, & RS, Cody Tyler, who has a TJ operation on his pitching arm in the spring of 2014. Willie also missed part of last season with some kind of an arm issue. So, it was a big deal for these 2 guys to come out & look sharp. They both pitched 3 innings & kept ahead of the hitters most of the time.

I think Willies injury was to his back if I'm not mistaken.I hope to make it out Sunday to see the game.
