Is it just me, or does it seem like we have some sort of hex over Omaha area recruiting? We snag a lot of talent out from under the noses of CU and UNL.

Seems like it, right? According to a coaching contact I have up there, we also have an offer out to a Creighton Prep pitcher who touches the low 90s. This is supposedly a record year for Division 1 baseball commitments out of the state of Nebraska.

Those are some tall pitchers. I know height doesn't equate to pitching ability just staring an observation. Never saw a height challenged person pitch in the big leagues.

There certainly aren't many. Tim Collins for the Royals is 5'7".

Whitey Ford was 5'10". Perhaps not totally vertically challenged but a pretty normal sized man.

Here are a handful of short people who pitched in the majors:

Here's the long and the short of it on Mets pitching in 2012: Jon Rauch is long. Daniel Herrera is short. At 6'11", Rauch, newly acquired by the Mets from the Blue Jays, is the tallest pitcher in major league history...

I do remember Bobby Shantz, all 5'6" and 139lbs of him.

Not to judge without seeing him play, but we signed a guy that hit .265 in high school?

That caught my eye as well. I was hoping maybe that was a typo and it possibly could be..
