I should have said was questionable to return (in my mind) based on the roster situation and the fact he hit .239 for the year including .174 in conference play. I figured he might be one of those "invited" to find playing time at another school.

That may have changed based on his summer progress. Don't get me wrong, I hope Chase is a Shocker next year, and I have been one of the more vocal ones against the high roster turnover, but when I looked through the roster and looked at building for the future with a fairly young team next year that was one of the names that I thought might not be back in order to get us under the roster limit.

Fair enough. I had Chase coming back when I went through that exercise but you're right he had a very poor season last year. Hopefully, he will be one of those JUCO transfers that struggles in year 1 but has a big jump in production in year 2.

Obviously Rader was believed by at least David Chadd to have a high ceiling when they drafted him in the 16th round two years ago. Since they didn't draft him at all this year, maybe they think that has changed. I would think that talent evaluators and WSU still believe that the talent is there but he needs to produce. We'll have to wait and see.

Chase Rader is playing really well right now for Wellington during the NBC.

They haven't entered all the rosters for Championship Week yet, but it's likely that the only other current Shocker left in the NBC tournament besides Rader is Tyler Gibson, who's pitching for the OKC Giants. Former Shockers Tyler Coughenour (Valley Center) and Micah Green (Liberal) are still alive, and I've heard that Zair Koieman may be on a roster somewhere.

Chase Rader is playing really well right now for Wellington during the NBC.

According to the NBC web page, Chase Rader is batting .650 in the NBC Tournament after playing in 5 games. He also has the most hits in the tournament with 13 and the most steals with 6. So yeah I would say he is playing really well right now.http://nbcws.bbstats.pointstreak.com...ng&orderby=avg

Another Shocker-to-be is playing for the Diamond Dawgs. Josh Whisler is an infielder from Fort Scott CC who's DHing and is 4-6 in his first two games.

The redshirt sophomore hit .384 with a team-leading 10 HR an 76 RBI for FSCC last season. He was HM All Jayhawk Eastern Conference as DH and was 4th in the KJCCC and 11th nationally in RBI. Listed as a C/INF. Originally from Owasso, Okla., he was All-State in 2012 as a catcher, hitting .418 with 6 HR and 42 RBI. Played his first year at Eastern Oklahoma State (.252 / 2 HR / 17 RBI) before a redshirt year at San Jacinto, then on to Fort Scott.
