Williams through 7 on 94 pitches. Would be great to have him finish this, either through efficiency or a run-rule. Can't afford to use Hayes, or to have this game get uglied up, which are just about the only 2 other options.

      Through 7:
      Top 5 In the order: 8 for 18 (.444)
Bottom 4 in the order: 2 for 12 (.167) both hits by Arens

2-hitter by Williams - much needed. 94 pitches, though, so unlikely he will go all the way.

You beat me. Bull pen duty looming scarily.

Another hit by Arens. Good work gramps.

I really don't understand Butler's strategy. Get runs. These .240-.250 guys should be trying to advance runners. Period.

Here is our shot for the run rule.

            Edit: Close but no cigar.

Good effort though. Good to see some hits get through after some of the bad luck/really good pitching last night.

8-pitch 8th inning gives Williams the chance at the CG. Would be a big help to the weekend effort.

Chase's stuff has never been in doubt. Not sure I am quite ready to say he has become a "pitcher" but he is getting there. What he has done is gone from wild outside the strike zone to wild in and around the the strike zone. I'm still not sure he know where his pitches are going most of the time, the catcher doesn't really know and the batter sure as heck doesn't know. With his stuff he doesn't need pinpoint control.

The Shocks have clearly established that SIU's pitching staff is not even in the same universe as MSU's.

Flood gates opened an inning too late. Still, tough to complain.

                      15-1.

I suspect the guy most unhappy with the SIU pitching today, other than the SIU folks, is the Valley's Jack Watkins.

                          15-1 Final.

The runs jump off the page, but it was Chase Williams going 9 innings of 1-run ball and saving the pen for the rest of the weekend that is the real highlight.

Game will be late tonight, if they get it in.

Congrats to Chase Williams on the Shocks 1st complete game this season and it could not have come at a better time.

                            :good:

Why the **** do they need 50 minutes between games on an artificial playing surface?

                              ... No really, deuces.

I was wondering the same thing myself. Couldn't the teams that are playing the next game be warming up in BIPF and cut that waiting time in half?

With that waiting time and assuming the rains hold off looks like the Shocks vs MSU game will be starting around 9:30pm (assuming a regulation game).
